Welcome Vanessa and say hello to Bonnie… I have been reborning for about 14 months and have made close to 20 babies… Have fun!!
Thank you!! I have made 7 babies, and Bonnie is starting her first I started with air dry paints and am going to move on to trying out genesis! Hopefully my baby does not come out looking like Freddy Kruger
Hi everyone! I’m Tanya! I’m 31, and a stay at home mom. I’m from Washington State, near Pullman WA. I met my hubby online in 2001, we talked for a couple of years and met in person in May 2003. I moved in with him and his family to Calgary, Alberta. I couldn’t work here in Canada and was only allowed to stay 6 months at a time. I didn’t have enough work experience to qualify for a work visa, so I started the process of getting my Permanent Residence. That would allow me to live and work or go to school (college or university) here in Canada. It’s a VERY long process, but while I was waiting… We were married in August 2005, and in April 2007 we moved into our first apartment (finally living alone!) to a smaller city, Lethbridge. We had our first baby, Bianca in November 2007. When she was 18 months I started plush making. After a year I started drawing up my own patterns and had acquired quite the faux fur collection. I had a huge commission list for custom orders. This plus Bianca kept me super busy! February 2010 my son, Reese was born. I continued plush making (all hand sewn) up until December 2012. I am just burnt out on plush making. I told my commissioners I might get back to them one day, but I couldn’t make any promises.

I tried to get into reborning over 2 years ago. I purchased a doll from a thrift store and bought oil paints from Michaels. I knew they weren’t the right paint, but I thought I’d give it a try. I disassembled the doll completely (eyes out too!), and went to painting. My mom is an oil painter and I knew it would take days for the paint to dry. I thought Genesis Heat Set paints would be too costly and buying oil paints from Michaels would cost less. No shipping required. Well, the paint didn’t dry… I got discouraged and put the doll in a box and never went back to it. I forgot about reborning and continued making plushies for people.
One day my mom sends me a message saying she bought a reborn on eBay. I’m back into reborns! XD I didn’t do as much research years ago. There wasn’t nearly as much as there is now! A tutorial I found consisted of painting a baby with acrylic paints on the inside, and out. The paint peeled off for me… Wrong paints? I researched for months after receiving my mom’s email. I took into consideration of the cost of the kit, cloth body, the paints, mohair, eyes, brushes, etc. I purchased my first kit and all the supplies ($245) It would have been cheaper if I would have purchased a starter kit… Live and learn. =/ So, I’ve put together my first kit, and the second is waiting on hair. I see such cute kits on BB and when they’re on sale I must have them! I have 6 babies coming (1 is Ashley Parker) this month and I can’t wait to start!
I do have all my kits shipped to my parents because it’s so much cheaper in the US than to ship them to Canada. I see my parents 4 times a year, and they don’t mind bringing things I’ve ordered. It was fabric before, and now it’s reborn supplies.
Sorry for the long story!
Glad to meet all of you! I know I posted about myself at some point in here so I won’t repeat it…I’m the crazy lady from VA that has way too much time on her hands…feels like I never find enough time in the day to do the important things though, like reborn! I spend way too much time on here but friends are important too!
Welcome to all who are just introducing yourself. I am Debora and I never have enough hours in my day! I am currently trying to get enough sock monkeys made for a craft show I will do in April. This is a by invitation only show so I am hoping to sell some babies and sock monkeys. I have done several babies. I do not know how many and I do 5 or so a year from bereungers I get from various places for little girls who would not get gifts other wise at Christmas. I switched jobs about a month ago and now I a secretary at the ambulance base and I only work on the truck as an EMT part time now. I let the younger ones work those 72 and 96 hour shifts. I get to go home almost every night now. I have 1 son and 1 daughter in law and grand baby I love dearly. My kids are foster parents and right now have another grand daughter. I have the best job in the world! We are considering switching congregations at which we worship.
We try to have some fun here and I look forward to seeing your babies.

Hi- I am Kristi- Peachycheeks Nursery-Live in Olympia Washington- I have been here for a while- and love this forum- so happy to see so many new members! Just got a new touch-screen windows 8 and learning how to do pics etc. I am 43 and an Occupational Therapist- I work in a subacute rehabilitation facility- I help people regain independence after strokes, orthopaedic injuries, neurological disorders and such. Been doing therapy since baby - 21 years old. Love it! I work with a great team- usually 36 hours a week. My spare time is filled with my family- my 3 year old boy Austin and my guy, Brian- I think you may have read we are rebuilding our relationship after a couple hard years of Brian’s PTSD and drug use. He is doing great now- in hardcore treatments, counseling and working his butt off. He left being a correctional officer at $27 an hour and now a whopping $10 at Target- but you know he is getting promoted by hard work and eventually use his GI bill for school- Target has some great programs. I love to work out -cardio, weights, yoga and pilates. And I love DOLLS! Since I was born-my real dad’s mother was a doll-lover also- and she would make baby clothes and Barbie clothes for me- and she had a special doll- Charlene that I would play with everytime I was at her house. She was my favorite Grandma- she died of Alzheimers- but the last time I saw her she had a hard time remembering who I was- but after we showed her baby pictures of me- she went and got a dolly out of her room at her facility she lived in. She did remember me! I think when I make dolls she is still around me helping me create beautiful dolls. I would describe myself as sensitive, caring, funny, pretty sharp and not the greatest sales person Love to hear more from you gals!!
