Getting into making reborns

Hi there ladies,
I may be making my very first reborn as in painting it! Usually I buy already painted kits and assemble them myself or custom made dolls. However I would like to be able to reborn dolls myself. What would I need to start? I know I would need a reborn kit, genesis heat set paints, a body, glass beads, poly fill, possibly eyes (if it’s an awake kit, not sure on the kit yet.) I want to start out painting a bald, caucasian baby. What tips and paint colors, thinners, ovens etc would you ladies recommend?
Thanks,
Julie

Look like you are off to a good start with your materials, watch some Youtube videos and just go for it!

If you are using Genesis Heat Set Paint I would recommend you get a starter set of premix paint from BB, Mona Lisa Thinner (available at Hobby Lobby) some cosmetic wedges, brushes, Q-tips etc. I would recommend a NuWave oven which are a little pricey but some buy a comparable one from Home Depot, I think it’s a Magic Chef or something. Make sure which ever one you purchase it has an Extender Ring, and be sure to buy an Oven Thermometer to place inside so you always know the temperature. You will gather lots of supplies along the way. Good Luck!!

The best free on-line tutorial is on Youtube–Reborn with Me! Kim can take you from beginning to end using Genesis Heat set paints. Very easy to follow and she does great work.

Reborn with me is a must. I would buy a few extra colors to besides what you get in the kit. Kim will tell you which ones. The kit is great other wise you have just about everything. I use my mop brushes a lot. They are pretty cheap at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Good luck I think you will like it. My best advice is don’t take you eyes off the oven. After melting Summer Rains head I learned. They haven’t gotten her back in stock yet either😩
