Folkart matte sealers

I have searched for an airdry sealer that will prevent shine on my babies. Baking is not an option due to the paints that I use. I tried the Folkart Glass and Tile medium. It works but leaves a very rough texture. So I bought some of the outdoor matte sealer. Before I put it on my doll, I called Folkart to ask if it gets shiny over time. I told her I want to use it for reborn dolls. She knew what they were and did NOT recommend using either sealer for that purpose. She said they’re made for porous surfaces such as wood and clay and will crack and peel over time if used on vinyl. Now I’m a little bit nervous about using it for fear that a doll I sell will end up looking like crackle glass in 5 years. Has anyone had a problem with this? I do dilute it just a bit so it’s not so rough.
Oops. Wrong category but I really don’t want to type it all again.

I have been looking for years for an acrylic based sealer and recently tried the Miracle Blend product. I really like the sealer, but it can become shiny unless you dilute it with a little bit of water. When diluted with the water it gives a very nice matte finish with only a tiny bit of sheen. Since this brand is made for vinyl the paints and mediums are a flexible product. I looked into the Folk Art brand, but could not find a statement that it was a flexible product so I never used it. On most of the high quality artist paints and mediums they will state that it is a flexible product. This means that it will flex and bend with the surface it is used on.

I know a lot of people recommend the folk art tile and glass medium…don’t do it!!! It will peel and take paint off with it. Thank the Lord I only used on practice babies. But, every time it did no matter how long it cured.

Does the Miracle Blend sealer become shiny with handling (changing, cuddling, etc) over time? If someone could make a truly matte sealer for vinyl that would stay matte they could make millions.

IMO Miracle Blend hasn’t been out long enough for anyone to make a claim that it will not eventually become shiny. But you can say that about almost any of them. I absolutely agree that who ever would come up with a true matte sealer would make millions! I wish they had an ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) rating on the sealer like they do the paints. If they do I have not been able to find it.
