First Reborn- Buy a Kit or Piece together supplies?

Question…I’ve been researching for several months now but haven’t took the plunge and bought supplies yet. We have quite an extensive collection of Reborns from Ebay and Ashton Drake dolls and I would love to try my hand at making them.

Would you recommend just getting one of the kits from Bountiful Babies or piecing together supplies? Would it be much cheaper to get supplies separately? Any particular kits or anything you would recommend for a newbie? ( Aka something easy!)

I think BB has some really nice complete kits to choose from. It isn’t any cheaper buying all the supplies separate from scratch.

i buy my kits from BB but for the most part i have gotten most of my supplies from people on ebay that were taking a break from reborning

I ended up buying everything at the end… which ended up costing more than if I had just bought a kit with everything. Later on, I did my buy my own paints. But I would recommend getting a starter kit form BB, preferably a smaller kit. And do that kit, and then work your skills up on practice pieces. Good luck

I bought BB set of basic paints from BB and a couple of kits and got the rest of the supplies at Hobby Lobby and Walmart (thinner, brushes, cosmetic sponges, etc.). The mohair with the “kit” is poor quality and the other items can be purchased by themselves. My first Reborn’s were actually Walmart Berenguers.

Bountiful Baby has complete kits for Teagan, Tayla and Megan. They’re all 16-17 inch babies and oh, so sweet with great details. Any one of them would be a good starter kit.
