Im doing my first craft sale this November and im kinda nervous! Any tips?
Do a practice setup of your table/booth. It saves time when you get there because you’ll already know how you want everything arranged. What will you be selling?
Reborns and crocheted items!
What @jeanhai said, do a practice setup.
Brings table cloth, scotch tape, pen, notepad, price tags, bags/boxes, business cards, photo album of previous work, food, drink, a fully charged phone (be prepared for bank transfer or PayPal), change (a lot if you sell small items), hairbrush/conditioner for rooted reborns, lint remover, and all their paperwork and included items.
Don’t overload your table, try to get a theme (color, props, decor, display…)
Keep your crochet items separately of the reborns, don’t spread them.
Be prepared to not sell anything, just go with the pleasure to display your art and talk to potential future customers. Have fun!
Make a list of everything you need to bring and check the items off as you put them in the car. It’s easy to forget something important when you’re nervous or excited.
I bought extra large baby shower gift bags at the dollar store for my reborns. I put a tag with the doll’s name on each one to make it easy to find the right one under the table. They’re less bulky than boxes and buyers have handles to carry them while they shop. I also tied a baby shower helium balloon to the corner of my table with a long ribbon so it can be seen above the crowd. Decide in advance what payment methods you want to accept and make a small sign indicating that. I put mine in a free-standing clear Lucite picture frame and put it on the table.
You’ll need cash in multiple denominations and a fanny pack around your waist, with the pouch in front, to keep it in. If you have business cards with your nursery info (if you have one) bring some with you but only put a few out at a time. I had somebody take all of mine.
If anyone says your babies are creepy take it as a compliment. It means they look real and you did good.
I freeze bottled water 2/3 full and when I’m ready to leave I fill them the rest of the way with water. Because there’s a solid block of ice in the middle, I have ice cold water all day.
If you live in a safe area or have an indoor garage it’s helpful and less stressful to load up the car the night before.
It’s also good to bring someone with you so you won’t leave your table unattended if you need to go to the restroom or want to look around yourself.
Most of all, have fun!
How much cash would you guys say to bring? Im selling reborns and crochet items if that makes a difference.
I start with$100 in different denominations because you’ll get more as you sell stuff. A lot of people will give you 10s and 20s so 5s and 1s are good to have. I round the price of everything to an even dollar amount. I don’t want to have to deal with change.
