I’m sorry but this made me laugh. I agree with the other ladies somebody or something happened to it. It did not just fall off. If it was fragile you would have known it while you were working on it.

If a naughty little girl or naughty little dog did it when no one was looking, then maybe I could believe that she just came to notice it and had no idea what happened. However, it wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if it was misused by a child or a dog. Maybe she did figure it out and is too embarrassed to say anything more about it, now that she has figured out the culprit.

If it’s a clean cut, I’m going to put my money on scissors and a little kid’s hand controlling them. 
Otherwise, she needs to match teeth marks to the wild ones in her house. LOL

Puppy is not likely to take off the finger without chewing up the hand or at least more fingers. Unless she supplies clear picture, I would ignore her.
