You’re right…..it has been BOR……ING around here!!!

I used to think of this place like the fence in your backyard where you met your neighbor while hanging out your laundry and would shoot the breeze for a few minutes!!!

Talk about weather, recipes, kids, aggravating hubbies, gardens…..you name it…….and, of course…….DOLLS!!! :grin:

What makes a sculpt a favorite?

One that touches my heart (and I’m not sure why some do and some don’t)

Asleep or awake?
Awake….but only if I can make them “look” at me :joy:
I actually do more asleep though.

Do you see boy or girl or do you just see baby?

I usually see boy or girl…..but sometime they change as I am painting them.

Painted or rooted hair?

Rooted bc I am never happy with the way I paint hair :enraged_face:

Air dry or HSP?
Heat set

How many times do you blush?
:thinking: 4-6???

Do you varnish?
Yes!!!

Texture or smooth skin?
Texture…..but not too bumpy

Do you root eyelashes under the eyelid or in the crease?

Under the lid…..is it mean to say people’s eyelashes don’t grow in the crease of their eyes?? :rofl:

Do you put eyes in the front or through the back?

Through the back and the older I get…the harder it is :disappointed_face:

Stork bits and scratches etc. or smooth perfect skin?

I have done stork bites and only a couple scratches. I’m always afraid I can’t make them look real enough.

Nope

Newest and coolest thing you have seen or heard about on the way (reborn related)?

They have been selling “smart diapers” on reborns.com. I guess they make baby noises….and are pretty pricey :flushed_face:

Have you ever surprise gifted a reborn to someone?

Yes….a few to people with dementia and one to a customer who got cancer​:broken_heart:

Do you do outing with reborns to get people excited and interested in them?

No…..unless you count bringing a baby Jesus into church :rofl:

Does to work?

Not really bc people get sticker shock when they ask me what I sell for….they seem to think
my babies should be a hundred bucks​:rofl:

I love being silly…..and this is fun!!!

For me what makes a sculpt a favorite is chubbiness, realistic details, how cute I think they are, if I bond etc.

When I first started with reborn, I preferred awake but now I prefer sleeping. However, if I find the awake baby to be really cute then I would do awake. I’m kind of a sucker for blue eyes. I do struggle with putting eyes in on awake dolls and sometimes sleeping looks more realistic to me.

Sometimes depending on the doll, I can see boy or girl.

Right now quite a few of my dolls are bald. I do like some painted hair. I like rooted hair when it’s done right. The only thing is I worry about frizziness/coming out when brushing etc. I’m working on painting hair on the dolls I paint. I don’t know how to root and I’m not sure that I would be able to with my fat fingers. Maybe some day.

I use air dry. most of the dolls in my collection are painted with genesis heat set by other artists. I wish I could use heat set. Maybe one day.

When I blush at least once maybe twice if I want it to show a little better.

Yes, I varnish to help protect the paint.

I prefer smooth skin but I may try texture since I’ve seen some other artists use it.

I’m going to have to practice eyelash rooting. Does it matter which way it’s rooted?

I put eyes in through the back. I haven’t been able to get them in the front.

I like mottling on my newborn babies. I also like smooth perfect skin on my biracial/ethnic babies.

My favorite realborn I would say is Darren asleep. I also really like Patience.

Yes I collect, I started out as a collector in 2013 and began painting reborns in 2020-2021.

No, I have never surprise gifted a reborn to someone.

No, I don’t really do outings with my reborns. If I’m honest, I’m a little shy about it. Some people can be judgmental and mean about it. Not everyone but sometimes I don’t know who I’m dealing with when I go out in public. I do take a baby with me when I go visit family or on vacation etc. I don’t want them to get mistaken for a real baby if I have to leave them in the car when I go in a restaurant or store. I usually cover them up. I use a doll carrier and not a real infant car seat.

I do enjoy being silly and this is fun!

I don’t have any children yet. I have the dolls as my babies well and my fur baby, Elsa (she’s a 5 year old short haired tortoise shell colored cat.)

I hate rooting but if you’re looking for realism, it’s the best option.

I prefer smooth.

In the crease where the upper and the lower lid connect.

Last week I gave a doll to an elderly lady with back problems. She has been obsessed with these dolls and always wants me to come over with one to visit, but I’m short on time these days and just gifted her a doll.

Other times were a lady who was freshly divorced and sad, a teenager who lost her father, a girl who was new to the US and lonely, then a few others I gave to people who were just kind and helpful. I love how healing our dolls can be.

Not usually

I found a sculpt that reminded me of my youngest daughter and painted her, took the ultrasound bear heartbeat box and added it to the body. She’s wearing her newborn outfit and is on display, but this is definitely a baby that I love to cuddle.

Penny B, peanut L, Liam B, Amelia K, and maybe Scarlett B. That was a hard decision! I think Scarlett is the only doll I’ve ever painted 3 times! I loved her

What makes a sculpt a favorite? I love hands and feet, Also if I decide to paint the kit more than once which is pretty rare for me.

Asleep or awake? Asleep, unless older baby like Liam :laughing:

Do you see boy or girl or do you just see baby? Usually the hair decides it for me whether boy or girl

Painted or rooted hair? For the dolls I paint, definitely rooted! My painted hair isn’t all that

What makes a favorite? Faces are what draw me to them.

Asleep or awake? I do both but I think sleeping newborn babies are more realistic.

Painted or rooted hair? I’ve done both but I think rooted is more realistic especially on toddlers.

Air dry or heat set? Air dry since day 1.

Boy or girl? I usually decide when I get the kit.

I usually blush 1-2 times.

I always varnish twice.

Dislike texture. I want my babies to have silky soft skin.

I only root eyelashes on sleeping babies.

I put eyes in from the back.

Sometimes a scratch or stork bite.

Not really a collector but I’ve kept a few.

I’ve gifted some for different reasons.

I used to take them shopping with me and really enjoyed it. I have mobility issues now so it’s more difficult.

I hold my portrait baby of my son frequently. It just takes me back.

Loving all of these!

I have to check out the diaper thing for sure, It isn’t my can of biscuits but it sounds cool. Glad to hear I am not the only one is unnerved by rooting in the crease, I get it sorta but it gives me the jeeps.
