Faun...my Caleb

I couldn’t sleep last night so I turned my Caleb that I was working on into a Faun (Narnia) just for fun,I figured I was using goat hair, it made sense to make a goat baby, just to keep my happy. I used a vintage napkin to make her a little dress. Those tiny babies are hard work, you would think they would be easier but they take just as much time to paint. Not my best work but I got to experiment with hair painting.

You are totally right. I think I just felt done. It was one of those little projects you do just for yourself. He is so, so , so tiny. When he arrived I thought "oh no, what am I suppose to do with that itty-bitty thing?

I wonder if its too late to root over the painted hair?

Oh that is some precious hair. What size brush are you using?

How adorable! Did you give the arms any hair or do fauns have hair on their arms? He is so tiny that I sold the two I made years ago…guess I need to start being more creative!

I did give her a little hair just on the bottoms of her forearms. I would totally get this kit again but its hard to find clothes that tiny.

That is one reason I didn’t keep mine. I was trying to keep all my keepers in one size clothes…lol, didn’t work by the way, I have tiny to 3 month size babies.

You really think so?! Wow, thanks!! I thought it was only so-so. I am hoping to someday make it look as real as rooted hair. What I used was a tiny script brush and a tooth pick. The toothpick helped to thin down the paint brush lines. I just ran the tooth pick on the edge of the painted hair. Then I went over the paint with a prisma pencil after baking. I did this many times.

I just bought Cassie Braces hair painting video, I am hoping to get something useful, so far tutorials are just long shots of people painting, I need someone to be a little more exact, understand the process. Thank you for sharing your technique. It looks very realistic.

I am happy to help as much as I can! If you have a question, just ask

I’m not sure how this technique would work on a bigger head because it’s very time consuming to thin down each line of paint with the toothpick. Butttt… I hate rooting… And I simply CANNOT get my paint stroke fine enough to resemble hair. So that works for me… Just don’t know about a bigger head :scream: I’ll keep trying till I can get a method that works.
