Eye gap

This kit had a recommended eye size of 20mm, so that’s what this is. Should I cut more of the eye socket out, down a size, heat the head? What do you all do when there is a weird eye gap?

I used 22mm for her. Perfect fit.

Not sure what to tell you about the gap as I’m terrible with eyes. But, wow, you painted that head amazingly!

Cutest air dry ever

Still amazes me that it isnt GHSP lol

Thank you all for your nice compliments on my painting. Definitely still air dry. I have never tried ghsp, but I have to tell you that I am really curious. I saw someone painting hair with it and those strokes just seemed to go on forever. Plus being able to wipe off mistakes seems rather nice. Hahaa

Anyway, the eyes. If I can’t fit a 20mm in there right, how am I going to get a 22mm in there? Am I supposed to cut off more of that eye socket part?

If you want to paint this kit, I will sell you one @jlesser . I have extra and don’t want to paint her again after all of this. Lol

Hmmm. Have you tried side glance?

Or maybe it needs the glass oval eyes? Sometimes those sit better with the raised iris area. (I dont know if I said that right.)

I just bought 4 kits this month… but I do want her. Just cant at the moment. Got to get more painted and sold first.

Note to self: STOP buying awake babies. The sleeping ones are so much easier.

:weary::face_with_thermometer: I am new to reborning, but I just like the awake babys! I said ; “ If I am going to work so hard on you, at least, I want to see you awake, looking at me! “.

A looooong time ago I had one eye that wouldn’t fit so I mixed a tiny bit of polymer clay as close as possible in color and pressed it in after the eye was glued. I shaped it and sculpted it, added a bit of paint after and it was much better. Not amazing but better then a gap. That being said, it wasn’t a huge space. She’s really beautiful, well done!

This is Shaya with 22mm oval glass eyes. Not the best picture but you can see how well the eyes fit.

I painted my Shaya last summer (I think- lost track of time) and I do not remember the eye size I ended up using, but I do recall having to try several sets and ended up using oval glass eyes. I also remember having to stuff some poly-fill in the sockets, so the fit must have been a little off. I had several sets of full round glass, but none worked.

I just bought Christine Woolley’s hair painting pen from Dolls By Sandie. It has an ultra fine brush tip on a pen that you fill with your paint so you can get much longer strokes. I just got it so I haven’t tried it yet but I think I’m going to like it. It was $15.

I will wait for your review of that pen. It can be a clever idea!.:hugs:

I don’t know if they actually filled the pen with paint. I think maybe it is just used as a regular brush. Maybe someone else will comment to verify

I’m going to try filling it with paint and see what happens.

Please do a review when you are done. I’m curious to know what you think of it.

The paint brush is just a fine tip water color brush pen trimmed down more, they’re fun to use though there is a bit of a learning curve with pressure and dilution needed to get the right amount of paint/water onto the tip. I use them for water colors myself. I recommend practicing with one on paper before moving to vinyl because if you’re not careful they CAN make a huge mess.

Beautiful painting!! I have often seen artists do the next size up with the eyes. So if its calling for 20mm, i would say use 22mm.
