That is a lot , greedy world
Yup I pulled almost all but 3 out of my shop because they upped ans added what they took out. It was ridiculous! I don’t sell much anymore on there because of all Chinese cheaters, I only kept a couple there because that site is on my business card, Thinking of just closing it and referring anyone to reborns. Greedy people for sure.
Its annoyjng because they expect me to offer free shipping too or they will drop my listings to the last page in search so i still have to pay to ship it. Ill be letting my shop go and re evaluate if i still want to use them when i have new dolls to list.
Yep! Sickening fees! I sold my Larry on there and the fees were astronomical! I was beyond pissed! I promptly took my other listings down. Never again will I allow them to take that much money from me.
I understand needing to make money, but this is beyond ridiculous.
I had an artist, not reborn, close her etsy and start her own website. She said it was because of the fees. That if she stayed with etsy she would have to raise prices and she did not want to do that to her customers.
Yikes!!! Were you doing Etsy ads? I had a similar thing recently, I sold a boo boo baby that was on sale for $500, they sent me $235!! They took over $200 for “outside ads”. I guess someone had clicked through an ad link on Google and they charge you a huge percentage, of the original price, not the sale price. They don’t disclose this anywhere I could find when you sign up to pay for ads. I have definitely noticed all their fees are going up now, and they added payment processing fees as well. I’ve been trying to transition off Etsy and get more direct traffic via Facebook and such. Which really sucks because I’ve sold on Etsy for years and always loved and recommended them, but the fees now are completely out of control.
Nope. No ads used. This is just base fees. No ads
My husband wants me to increase,my prices. And while i do need to reevaluate my prices due to the increased cost of supplies i dont think its right to increase just for Etsy fees.
Im still planning a selling platform website for us all. Just paying off debt first so i have some capital to start it.
Yours about what I pay as well, I meant @Katinafleming she had the crazy marketing fee.
I had to increase my prices on Etsy. I really didn’t want to, but was losing at least $100 sometimes $200 on every baby in fees the last few months
$200 off of ONE baby. Because a person clicked on one pay per click ad to get to your listing. Know how much these cost? Depends on the search term, but 10, 25 cents, 50 cents maybe. Even if it took 10 or 20 clicks on your doll to get a buyer to buy, how is that $200?
Worst part is that lets say someone clicks through just to look and comes bsck weeks later not using an ad…you still get charged the ad fee.
How do companies even get this greedy? It seriously blows my mind.
Add Ebay to the list of ridiculous. I sold one doll there. Never again!
Easy to see when they implemented these ads.
Honestly. This is not surprising to me because the same person who made Ebay impossible to sell on and full of fees and scams is now running Etsy. Its now publicly traded as well.
Its become just like Ebay with insane fees.
I think I did a dollar a day ad thing. Then someone clicked the listing from Google and bought him. That’s ridiculous. Why do we have to pay $100 when someone finds it on Google? Even if you don’t pay for the Etsy ads your listings get put on Google. There’s apparently no way to get around that fee….except to not list on Etsy.
You can’t opt out of them advertising outside of etsy? Their fees would still be high, but not totally ridiculous.
once you reach 10 thousand in sales you cant opt out of ads. I just reached it with this last sale.
Thank you for sharing this. I was considering selling on etsy. Not anymore. Ill stick to my own site, facebook, and renorns .com
$10,000? That’s a lot.
I’ve never seen that anywhere. I opted out of ads right after I had that huge fee, there was no requirements listed or anything. When I had ads on, if I googled reborn Levi and had one listed it would come up in Google searches. After stopping ads my dolls would no longer come up in Google searches.
I should say though I’ve definitely had more than $10,000 in Etsy sales, so it may have not informed me? But I could always opt in or opt out of ads since day one.
I think it really sucks that they don’t have any in depth community answers to these questions and it isn’t possible to reach a real person to find out details.
