Having only decided to make a doll the other day I went searching for deals on paint. I have found some empty jar lots and sample jars on ebay. The 2 listings for empty jars have 45 and 60 jars with residue for around $35 each, the sample jars are also around $35 but only have a few base colors that I’d have to mix for skin tones etc. I’m really thinking of buying the empty jars because I feel like there will be enough to work with to complete a doll and decide after that if I want to invest in a starter kit but I have no idea of the value of empty jars with residue. According to one ebay seller empty jars like that easily go for $2 per jar. Thoughts? I still may go with air dry but am torn between heat set and picking up a used oven on the cheap or air dry. I’ve watched all of the videos by Kim customdollbaby on youtube and she uses heat sets. Give me your thoughts on empty or mostly empty jars on ebay vs value.
Ok, I might do that instead. Is the vein blue clearly labeled? I saw on Dolls by Sandie that she sells petite jars for $3.99 but don’t know how to find the colors I need. I want a peachier/rosier/pinker/darker flesh tone than flesh 08. I found that to be a little pale and want something a bit darker and warmer so what would be a good flesh color for that?
Nevermind, I see the petite jars here for the same.
If I didn’t want to mix my own colors what would be the ones I’d need to make a doll? So if I wanted to buy between 8-10 good colors that I wouldn’t have to guess what to mix in order to complete her. I know flesh and vein are 2 but what about blush? creases? etc.? I do want her to have soft, rosy overtones not overly pale.
Item number 6723 will have all colors you need to get you started learning and will last for quite a while 
It’s much easier to go with the premixed color set when your learning then add on more basic colors once you get a hang of reborning and ready to start learning to mix your own paints.
