It’s the one step I have not been able to take with the reborns I have made myself. I love the option of being able to change the direction of their glance. I know if you’re selling they should be set and glued but wouldn’t it be great to have them move? Is it just me?
See…it’s so much fun!

to move the eyes…you have to remove the head and stuffing of the head each time…?
I most usually do glue my eyes, but don’t think customers would go through
all that trouble just to change the placement of the eyes.

All I do is use a rubber finger to slide the eyes from side to side . I do not remove the head. Mind you, this is for my personal reborns not ones you sell.
I still think if there was a way to make moveable eyes intentionally it would be awesome.

It would be pretty neat if there were eyes that you could change the position of by moving them from outside the head. I seen an eBay auction where different pics of the baby had different eye positions. She said she does not glue them until the auction is over and then if the buyer has a preference of eye position, she then glues them that way. But I say if it’s just a keeper for you and no one is going to complain that the eyes move around then it’s a great idea, especially when taking photos! Also with yours not being glued they don’t look like they are going to sink into the eysockets or fall out anyways, they seem like a tight fit so I’d leave them unglued so u can play with her and take cute photos of her!

Years ago at one of the IDEX shows there was a doll artist ( not reborns) who did this . I think her name was Lori Ivanovic.(?) She made really pretty dolls.
It was pretty cool. Her eyes could be positioned from the outside. I love the idea for my reborns.

Sound like the next reborn invention @Marilyn hurry up before someone beats you to it
I love that idea, I think when I make Riley, in the near future, I will not glue her eyes. Great idea!

Thanks Anne! I’m sure I’m not the first person to think about this!
Just make sure her head is firmly stuffed and don’t press on the eyes too hard. You don’t want them to fall into the head. I find using a latex glove or rubber finger helps to manipulate them into positions. Have fun!

I’ve never glued eyes but I’ve also never inserted eyes through the back by cutting the socket. Once I’m ready to insert I heat the head and pop them in the front then when the head cools completely they stay right and don’t move.
