Thank you, I’m gonna order some new ones today. I know the gauge has to be pointed down when rooting.
Not gauge, but the point that catches the hair.
I’ve tried a few different brands of mohair and am the most happy with either Delta Dawn or Slumberland…Those are the only brands I’ll use now. Delta Dawn has frequent sales on mohair and emails her customers about them. I stock up on it when its when its on sale. I’m sure that there are other really good brands out there but of all the ones I’ve tried these 2 are what I like the best and use now.
With the forked, it is different bc there is no barb to see on the end of the needle. With the barbed ones you need them to be facing down in order to catch the hair but with forked it has to do with the L shaped thing on top, maybe someone who uses these can tell you which way they have to face bc I don’t use forked, could never get them to root a single hair but I think it had to do with my angle of the needle!
@Kim_CustomDollBaby does some videos about the different needles.
I will grab the link

Thanks, I watched it before a while ago. I was gonna watch it again.
Thanks! There’s even more needle information on my blog
I use forked, and it has to be perpendicular to the hair. You lay the hair left to right and hold it down flat, then the needle will grab perfectly. I always make sure the little “thingy” is pointing upwards when I hold my needle. If you put a tiny ponytail elastic on the bundle, it’s so much easier. and doesn’t fly away. Little Wren’s Nest has a nice tutorial on this needle type, on YouTube.
I love the forked needles❤️
