I am painting a Lizzy and she is giving me more trouble than any other kit I have ever painted. Her vinyl is not like any I have ever worked with. Just wondering if she gave anyone else trouble.

Yes. Adrie uses a vinyl that is more “rubbery” than some. I believe it’s all the German(correct me if I’m wrong, please) vinyl that is this way. Andrea Arcello and the Kewy kits are also like that. The ones produced by Kits So Real(believe that’s them) are the worst for me to reborn.
I have found it best to lighten the vinyl with white, then put on your neutralizing color.
A couple light white washes?
Yes. Once lightened, you will still see the hue of the vinyl color. These vinyls tend to be orange. So, use a blue to neutralize. Stay away from the BB vein blue, as it is a dark blue and will darken the vinyl again.
Ultra marine blue? Or blue 3? Lol thank you Shannon! @cajuncuties
Thanks Shannon. I have done other German vinyls and they all took the paint better than this one has so far. She also has some rough spots.
I use Phthalo Blue 02.
Thank you!
Do you notice your white going on unevenly? Mine is… And a bit chalky. Should I use thinner paint? It’s pretty thin… Lol
If you’re using Genesis paints, try Gamsol liquid thinner to help with the chalkiness.
That’s what I was thinking! Of course… I’m out! lol
My lighter flesh tones went on very weird. I was painting another doll at the same time with the very same paint mixes and it went on normally on the other doll. I think I have her mostly corrected now. But she has some very rough spots between her fingers and toes and even a mark on her cheek and another on her ear that look as if the sculpt was not completely smoothed.
OH Lizzy I looooooove that kit Haven’t painted her, but couldn’t resist the title of this thread, LOL. Sorry she is giving you trouble!!!
