Very reasonable request. To me photos like that should be included in the listing anyway.

I always to that or even without diaper with baby on the scales, so weight also will be included.
It should eliminate the question ‘is is a silicon?’ or ‘what type of body it has?’.

If she is selling them outside of Reborns or even through Reborns but on payments plans, Dave doesn’t count those. But 86 available babies in 2.5 years it’s like a baby in 1.5 weeks. That is an assembly line! Of course she will not have time for taking additional photos

That’s crazy that they want to see the doll in different clothes. That’s exactly the opposite of what I need. As much as I do appreciate the glamour shots from an aesthetic point of view, I just need to see the doll itself, not all the fancy clothes and pretty backgrounds. I wish having the basic, back and front without clothes was required on that site.
And I’m not buying a doll who is only shown with a pacifier, hat, and socks on. Everyone looks cute that way. Sellers need to look at what doesn’t show in their listing.

In this particular listing, feet and hands are a part of what show, but not the bottoms of the feet. And nothing close enough to see nails clearly, even when I zoom in. And none of the back of the head, or the top of the back.

I can only speak for myself, but if I’m asking for more pix, I’m considering purchase. I’ve never bothered to ask for more pictures, then wistfully say, maybe someday, gee thanks for your time.

Idk, it’s a lot of dolls and not a lot of sales. We don’t know if they had a lot made before deciding to sell there. It doesn’t indicate how long they’ve been reborning. Wouldn’t the dolls sold elsewhere be labeled as adopted even if they hadn’t sold through that site?

I don’t mean to sound snarky. But. They all look the same. Cloth body. I don’t quite understand why someone would need to see it. I mean. The listing will say full limbs or 3/4.
The bodies all look the same on my dolls so maybe I just don’t understand why someone would need to see it.

Maybe I’m missing something. Lol

Sometimes the bodies are overstuffed/understuffed or aren’t proportionate to the head/limbs. And they may or may not be gathered at the chest. Less importantly, to me at least, they may not match well colorwise.

I once saw a reborn so overstuffed that the baby’s face hovered over the surface it was laying on by about three inches. That’s something I’d have to pay someone else to fix right off the bat, because obviously the seller didn’t know how to do it right. Fortunately it showed in the picture without clothing and with the doll laying flat. It couldn’t be seen in the other photos, because they were sitting up and flattering.

Usually, a laying flat, back and front pic without clothes will show exactly what you’ll be getting, including almost the entire paintjob.
So I also want to see the head from the top, closeups of hands and bottoms of feet. By doing so, I have ruled out dolls I was seriously interested in. A little disappointing, but better than negative surprises after the deal is done.

The vast majority of artists don’t do refunds. Even just a few hundred dollars is a large purchase for something unnecessary and frivolous, and let’s face it, dolls are.
So being able to see every part first (within reason) helps eliminate buyer’s remorse.

Ummmm…my trials and tribulations with reborn dolls  has shown me that not all reborns look the same with no clothes. It’s amazing what the differences in each doll can be, even in its basic state.

If you were to see a baby dressed in just a onesie or a tshirt and diaper, would that be as good as seeing it “naked”? I do photos of my babies like this so you can see the limbs and whatnot but I’m not sure if the buyer thinks its enough so that’s why I am asking. Like would you skip over my doll because I dont have a photo of the baby completely undressed?

I would never skip over a doll just because it wasn’t shown undressed. Lots aren’t. And, just speaking for myself, I’d only ask for more pix if I were seriously interested. Just a diaper is fine, the laying down back/front shows best.

Thanks for the info. It’s always good to get opinions of buyers so I know what they are looking for.

I can only speak for myself, but I’ve received two dolls that were oddly weighted and stuffed and I never would have known by the listing photos. It was only when I received them in person and I undressed them that it was obvious to me.

Honestly I list on reborns and they let you post a lot of photos. I try to post about 10, sometimes less rarely more than 12.

I try to do natural light when I can (by a window filtered light)

I post front, left, right, and top of head.

Close up of face and feet.

Full body dressed.

Full body with legs showing.

One glam shot or a black and white for fun.

I do one photoshoot, it is a lot of work to set up, when it is done it is done,

I get requests for more photos if I post 5 or 14, there are never enough and I also get very odd requests (to me).

In a diaper only, naked, genitals if it is anatomically correct, I am asked to take a photo with a hat, in a certain color, a Paci, or simply different outfits. I have been asked for safety photos and video.

Honestly I just say “NOPE”

There are people out there with intentions not worth getting into here (pedo, diaper fetish, and time manipulation…)

Not interested. You have to have boundaries as an artist. I may lose a sale but my time is valuable. I understand it is hard to spend a lot of money on something you can touch and hold first.

If I have a you tube video where I am painting, dressing, or assembling the baby I will link it, reborns offers that option.

I know as a buyer you want more but honestly there will never be enough “more”.

Best thing to do is follow that artists work, read feedback, Etsy has a star system for reviews.

I also send extra zip ties and a link to a you tube video I made on how to re-assemble your baby if you need to reweigh or want to change bodies.

You can tell if a baby is in a teddy bear body or a fitted body dressed, if in doubt ask.

Yeah, it sucks that there’s weirdos out there. I have no idea how a “naked” cloth bodied doll or any baby doll in a diaper can be some sort of fetish. That isn’t my intent at all.

I’ve never heard names for these different type of bodies before.

Oh lord, these diaper fetish people really annoy me. I don’t know why. No judgment, live like you wanna live baby but there a couple people who I have looked up on IG after contacting me and they are some kind of something else, they have crossed the line into a place I am totally not comfortable with.

The teddy bear body is the old style, not gathered, very round in front and back, you mostly see these on the old 3/4 and 1/4 limbed babies.

The tailored, gathered bodies are the bodies that are mostly sold now, there doesn’t seem to be much variation from company to company and if they artists uses the requested size it should be a good fit, if they have opted to use a size they like better it should be disclosed in the description (well I disclose it, and state why).

Darren is a good example, I always put him in a smaller body than recommended.

I take 100-200 photos. If they want reasonable photos I will take them. I feel that it is hard because you can’t touch them. I have started to take pictures without the clothes just because I have been asked several times.

Nope! They don’t all look the same. Some of the old BB bodies make the babies look like a turkey. And some people put the wrong size bodies on. I’ve even seen full limb dolls put into 3/4 limb bodies. It sounds ridiculous. But it happens. I would absolutely ask to see a pic without clothes before buying a doll.

Here’s my own experience with wonky bodies. What if I had left that doll on the first body I bought? A lot of people do use those bodies. Not everyone will bother to order a new body. They will just make do with what they have. Both of these are BB body in the recommended size and style for the kit. The difference between the first body and the second body was major! The second body resulted in a happy customer. But that first body would have scared her. In clothes, they look fairly similar.
