Crawler

Wouldn’t a crawling baby be cute? Or how about one in that half-crawling, half-scooting pose. Any idea how I could get the head in the right position or do you think it wouild have to be sculpted that way? I can see it in my head but don’t know how to go from vision to reality.

Perhaps @beachbabies can help you out

That’s a great pose that beachbabies captured! I can see how that would be quite do-able!

I totally agree.

Cradle kits actually created a body for that purpose…It was for their crawling baby Dee Dee…it has a drawstring in the back that you pulled and it drew the baby’s head up and put her in a crawling position…not sure if they still sell them or not?

You may could use the body for another baby that has bent legs??? I am not fond of their bodies but maybe someone who makes bodies might make that style as well if you find a kit you wanted to make into a crawler?

I was thinking some of the new 23 inchers might work, or maybe a little bigger. I could probably alter a body to do the work. A creative challenge. I love those. But it won’t be right now. I’ve got too many half done babies to finish. I always get these ideas when I don’t have time to do them. Doing art of any kind always stimulates my brain and I think of tons of things that would be so awesome if I just had a clone or two to do them!

There’s only one Helen and we love it that way! If you ever do come up with at crawler body for a toddler size baby I would buy them from you…I think that is an wonderful idea…wish I was that good with a sewing machine…I can hem and sew anything that requires a straight line…that is about the extent of my sewing talent…lol

What a fantastic idea!!!

Someone a while back did that with their crystal and it was DARLING! Can’t remember who it was but she was my fav. Crystal to date. She said she used an armature.

Was it JaNan’s? Her Crystal has been a fave for many. She had hers propped up on her hands and looking at the camera.

Probably. Painted hair and brown eyes I think. Oh so cute!

Truth be told, i don’t sew unless I have to. I hate getting the machine out. I hate having the machine out. I hate putting the machine away. I hate ripping out mistakes…but I do like to sew.

Thanks for the compliments. I loved posing my Crystal like that. I did it with armature, but it seems like the Chelle that makes bodies designed a body that had a drawstring in it down the back so you could pull the head up and pose it for crawling. I think that would be easier than the armature. In fact the armature wasn’t very usable more than a few times. Then it kind of got twisted up in there and wouldn’t go back straight. I ended up removing it before selling the baby.

The head up pose would be great for Grant and Easton etc. I figured the doll was just rigged for the photo but I guess it’s actually made to do that. Very nice!

Will love to see them too if she is able to do them…the ones that I have used from Cradle Kits in the past have a channel down the back of the body and a draw string that is sewn into the bottom end of the channel and the tails are out the top end near the neck and you just pull the strings which draws the back up into soft pleats which raises the head and arches the back so that the knees and hands can be positioned in a crawling position…(hope that makes sense…lol)
