It has been a while, I sneak in and read once in a while, usually end up on a soap box talking about politics on a thread that amazingly has not been flagged, progress.
I took a baby break to do some fine art. I have about five babies that have been sitting on my workbench waiting for me to come back. I think I will once my youngest is back in school and I have time to just relax and paint babies.
They will be alternatives, kinds dark, a friend of mine has a scary show once a year at her gallery, the person chairing it asked if I could bring some babies that were a little creepy. I told him I don’t do hurt, bloody, zombies… but I can do something that would compliment the show.
I donated most of my baby stuff last year, my cradle, almost all my clothes, shoes, hats, blankets, all of it. I will have to make some outfits with some vintage stuff I have.
I am using sculpts I put aside a long time ago for alternatives.
Anyone using any of the new heat set paints? I may need a couple colors I am running low on, is it any good?
Any new must have sculpts, how are sales? Any gossip, new products?
The forum looks a little quiet.

I love the new Gemini heat set paints here at BB. I like them the best of the 3 brands I tried.

Nice to hear from you Gina
I’ve been jumping around to different hobbies/projects, so not painting at the moment, but love to keep up with everyone and their current babies!
I can’t wait to see your alternatives, they’re always so creative

I am going to need a few colors, probably before the end of the year and definitely going to need some sealer soon. Looking forward to teying the Gemini.

My opinion of the Gemini is they are the most like Genesis of what I have tried. My friend took Jodi Lombardo’s class at DOTWE. She told me that Jodi said she has tried all the brands and that they each have their strengths and weaknesses but to her the Gemini seemed the closest to Genesis. She is someone who uses a lot of paint so she would be a person of good assessment. I was told she had mostly Genesis in her class for them to paint with but a few colors in other brands as well. The nice thing about all the brands is they seem to mix with each other just fine. However, if you are going for something that has the same translucence and pigment strength as Genesis, I find that to be the Gemini. Others I tried you have to use more paints and they tend to lean more like air dry paints in translucence IMO and I think there is more learning curve to them. Each brand has their own respective following with successful artists so it is just a matter of finding what works best for you. I have also heard that Alva and Go has a nice matte varnish but I have not been able to try that brand.

Someone shared pics of your art show, very cool.
I need to do an alternative some day, that would be fun. I think I would do a Vampire baby! Will you maybe do scary clowns?
I’m just using some of the new mediums, I have enough Genesis paint to last a hundred lifetimes. What colors do you need? As for meduims, I like the new exodus, gemini matte is all I have tried of BB’s line and so far so good. I also like IRHSP matte, not so much the pore texture. I tried Shelly Maries heat set agent with so so results. Great primer and paints sticks like glue but it’s hard to move around. I use it just for toes and finger tips now.
Nice to see you.
