Mine will be closed eyed, too. I have yet to make an open eyed baby, so I’m not going to over complicate things for the challenge.

Try straight acetone on a Q-tip before or after you file it as smooth as you can. Acetone will actually melt the vinyl.

I think I’ll leave her eyes closed ~ I’m worried enough that I can’t get the tongue to look right, don’t want to mess her up even worse by trying to cut her eyelids open…YIKES…but I sooooo LOVE the look of her with open eyes!

My 2 Celeste kits arrived in Oz today…(Of course I ordered them right before the special to get a Realborn for free took place…wish I had waited) Got 2 Celeste and 1 Meagan - nothing else and was $201 aussie dollars with the exchange rate and postage…sure would have made it a lot sweeter to have had the free kit in there…lol Ahhh well, that is my usual luck…Anyway, I’m looking forward to doing the little one…So many ladies entering this one by the look of it, it ought to be lots of fun!!!

Oh darn. I just looked at the picture and discovered I cut out too much of the eye. I wanted that slitted eye look. Oh well. I’ll go with what I’ve got. Her eyes are just a little bit wider open. Maybe it’ll be cute, huh? Oh, what do you guys use for files. Nothing smooths the vinyl for me. Did I see some one say pure acetone would do it? I need to buy some to get my fake fingernails off anyway.

Did we decide that the head shot is full face, no dummy and that the body shot is all limbs exposed? Was not sure? Thanks for that
I personally think the head pic should show the full mouth and the limbs shouldn’t be completely covered. What is everyone else’s opinion

I’m mainly interested in the face and how everyone handles the tongue & whether or not the eyes are opened or closed. I’m excited about this challenge and can’t wait to get started! Guess I’m just curious ~ I’m sooooo apprehensive about that tongue. I think I have tongue phobias after working on Lulu for so long. Wait. Curiosity killed the cat, right? Wonder what it did to the reborners.

I am in agreement with michilc and westernstarr. The challenging part is the open mouth and the artistry is in the painting. So, yes, let’s show off the limbs in the full body photo and show off the face, including the open mouth in the head shot.

Yes. I think you’re right. It such a temptation to cover that mouth with a paci or a thumb.

Celeste came today! I ordered a body with zip ties for the first time and got an extra tie. Is this standard, or am I just lucky?

Just lucky I think. Although I don’t order the zip tie bodies. I order the strings and replace them with my own zip ties.

It is standard. I think the fabric and stitching is better quality in the cable tie bodies too.
Is it enough different that I should change my practice, Pia? if they always have an extra, I must never have bought the better ones and just don’t know any better. They say they are almost identical, but how close is almost?
