Can someone please explain to me how to make a baby with vitiligo. My daughter wants me to make one for her friend, but I don’t even have a clue as to where to start. TIA!
When I did it I did layers all over then stripped areas back with rubbing alcohol. Washed the kit again (to get any alcohol off) - let dry. Then continued painting the next layers. That way the stripped areas were not bare vinyl, etc.
I havent done any with dark skin tones though, just closer to biracial tones.
Thank you so much for replying. I hoped you would as I saw your pictures. I will try this. Question when you wash it again do you wash it in Dawn or just plain water?
I havent done it in a few years. I know I used to be able to wash my painted kits with soap and water and nothing happened. That was pre covid GHSP.
I have not done any since then.
Ok Thank you for your help.
I’ve done a few, both as customs and make to sell. I’ve found a decent process, but involves changing my layer order, which is nerve wracking.
-veins and blue undertones
-ALL flesh layers. If you’re gonna put on anything warm toned, do it now
-now you strip the areas you want to have patches
-‘blood’ mottling- blue, purple, crimson
-creasing, making sure to only use cool pinks and such for the stripped areas
-then your details/hair/etc
When I first started doing them, I painted the whole doll and stripped at the end. This is unrealistic in my opinion because it just leaves blank spots. Real people still have veins and capillaries there, just no melanin. In all honesty, on babies, the condition is usually invisible or only a few small spots, but I understand people want dolls that represent how they look as older children or adults.
I’m definitely not a professional, but I hope this helps some

Yes it does, thank you for sharing. Your babies are beautiful!
