Caitlyn's Cradle now has... a cradle!

I went and picked up this cradle from a woman in Des Moines. We kept social distance the best we could! It was actually pretty funny, I imagine we were comical to watch, shuffling around without coming close to each other. :joy: She told me it was made for her first son in 1975 in New York by a friend of theirs and none of her kids wanted it! I can’t believe they didn’t; it’s gorgeous and solid. She asked me if it was for a baby or a doll and I told her about the dolls and my nursery name and stuff and she was really into it. I should have brought a card :joy:. Anyway I’m really happy to have this beautiful piece, I will keep it in the family for sure.

Then I found this dachshund fabric by chance while glancing at the remnant section at Walmart! I am delighted! I’m going to use it to make a mattress cover for it because it’s gender neutral and I have two dachshunds! And a friend’s sister makes onesies, so she printed me a couple with my nursery name on them! All this today, plus awesome clearance finds of stuffed bunnies, rattles, and box opening filler (aka paper Easter grass) made for a really good day for the babies babies!

You’re so lucky. Our Walmart doesn’t sell fabric or patterns anymore. Too bad you didn’t take a baby with you. I’ll bet she would have loved to see one.

Beautiful. You’d better not get her too excited about your babies other wise she’s going to want her craddle back to diplay her dolls in.

I was really thrilled to find it on Craigslist and even more thrilled to see it in person. It’s beautiful! I can’t believe none of her kids wanted it!!

@jeanhai I thought about taking a baby with but I knew I was going to run into Walmart and harbor freight so I thought better not.

@quiltsabunch Very true! :joy: Can’t risk her needing it back! I don’t plan on displaying babies in it at this time simply because it’s low enough I worry the dogs would bother them and chew fingers and toes. They have a plastic baby missing her hands and feet that they’ve had since way before I even got my first reborn. As much as I’d like to think they’d not chew up a doll they see me carry around and know is ā€œmineā€ I also know there’s always a possibility and I’d be absolutely crushed if something happened to Hattie or Harlow. Babies for sale I store in a pack and play in my room, safe from doggies. Maybe one day when I have an office/art studio again I will keep them in it behind a closed door :joy:

@YelenaRey That is what I was thinking! I am not a great at branding and marketing but I decided to try a bit harder. Easy when things are cute!

@Helenabeereborns I glanced for more of it, but I didn’t take the time just because I was trying to hurry. Next time I go I will look harder and pick up a couple yards. It was from Walmart. Joanne’s has some cute dachshund fabric.

@RosieCait I know this is an old post but it popped up! We have 2 mini Doxies and I am always on the lookout for anything with Dachshunds  We have a store in Aus called Peter Alexander that mainly sells PJs but their logo is Penny his Dachshund and they often have Dachshund prints
