Whewwwww! I just had to take a break from rooting Owen/Tuzio-Ross. That baby is going to drive me to drink. He has a hard head with denser hard spots that are hard to root no matter how I heat up his little noggin. Finally I had to break out the 38g one notch needle and change from alpaca to regular mohair. I’m am starting to see progress. It is a good thing because if it didn’t work, I would have had a lot of human hair to use from pulling mine out.
Thanks for letting me rant. I am going back to work.
Your so funny I have a head like that waiting for me it’s been six months maybe someday I’ll finish her
I’m so glad you’re not rooting your own hair, too! ![]()
LOL
Re those denser hard spots…I put a small torch inside the head of Lulu before doing her hair, and this is the resulting pic. It seems to show the denser spots. Kinda spooky pic tho.
Might make a good Halloween light haha
It would give you a bit of a turn if you spotted it out of a dark night. Lol
Progress report: I have 3/4 of head done. I have to quit till tomorrow and let the sore wrist recover. I really hate arthritis.
Those pics are great!
Diane, I have a couple of kits that have thicker, harder heads and I love the kits but I am afraid to even start on them. Maybe I’ll have to learn to PAINT hair !!! Eeeek!!!
I finally had to use a 38 gauge needle with one notch because I kept breaking my 42’s, and a 43 wouldn’t even piece the head. Also, the finer alpaca wouldn’t root. So, I have to use the tweezers a lot to pull out the extra hairs. I was determined to find a way. I haven’t had time to learn to paint hair. So, I know your reluctance.
I know some people like that, too! Just one more way reborns resemble real people! ![]()
@otterbaby2 So sorry that you are having a hard time and that your arthritis is flaring up. I can relate - lots of arthritic pain. But you made me laugh with the hair jokes - thanks for the laughs!

Glad I could get a smile out of you.
How are your hands today? OK for rooting?
@bebe A good nights rest and a couple of ibuprofen usually make the hands workable. Can’t keep an old war horse down.
That’s a tough cookie!
I have to go get the fine hairs done on mine today…
Good luck finishing up!
