Break Time!

Whewwwww! I just had to take a break from rooting Owen/Tuzio-Ross. That baby is going to drive me to drink. He has a hard head with denser hard spots that are hard to root no matter how I heat up his little noggin. Finally I had to break out the 38g one notch needle and change from alpaca to regular mohair. I’m am starting to see progress. It is a good thing because if it didn’t work, I would have had a lot of human hair to use from pulling mine out. :unamused: Thanks for letting me rant. I am going back to work. :person_with_blond_hair:

Re those denser hard spots…I put a small torch inside the head of Lulu before doing her hair, and this is the resulting pic. It seems to show the denser spots. Kinda spooky pic tho.

It would give you a bit of a turn if you spotted it out of a dark night. Lol

Progress report: I have 3/4 of head done. I have to quit till tomorrow and let the sore wrist recover. I really hate arthritis. :grimacing:

Those pics are great!

Diane, I have a couple of kits that have thicker, harder heads and I love the kits but I am afraid to even start on them. Maybe I’ll have to learn to PAINT hair !!! Eeeek!!!

[/quote]I finally had to use a 38 gauge needle with one notch because I kept breaking my 42’s, and a 43 wouldn’t even piece the head. Also, the finer alpaca wouldn’t root. So, I have to use the tweezers a lot to pull out the extra hairs. I was determined to find a way. I haven’t had time to learn to paint hair. So, I know your reluctance.

I know some people like that, too! Just one more way reborns resemble real people!

@otterbaby2 So sorry that you are having a hard time and that your arthritis is flaring up. I can relate - lots of arthritic pain. But you made me laugh with the hair jokes - thanks for the laughs!

Glad I could get a smile out of you. How are your hands today? OK for rooting?

@bebe A good nights rest and a couple of ibuprofen usually make the hands workable. Can’t keep an old war horse down.
