I forgot to mention that something I usually do for my really orange kits are several layers of titanium white with a touch of genesis yellow. Two layers and bake, assess and add one or two more layers and then bake. It’s what I’ve found that most successfully takes down the orange.
Ty I’m going to try that
I would have never thought to do that at all! I use that color a lot on my normal babies, but would assume it would just emphasize the yellow. I’ll have to try that though, sometimes the colors that shouldn’t work are the ones that do! Thanks for the tip
This adorable little guy’s kit was super orange German vinyl. I felt like, ugh! I did the white mixed with a touch of genesis yellow. I think I did a total of 4, maybe 5 layers of that, baking in between ever two layers. You can’t tell how orange he was. So, this method really does work when it is needed. Just takes some time to do the layers before you can get to the fun parts, like mottling.
The white does a good job covering it over, blotting the orange down. Just have to use moderate thick layers, but not too thick, and don’t place it in the creases. You can gently push it into the creases as you blot the layer with a mop brush or wedge. Blend the creases well before baking. I’ve only had to use it on about 3 orange kits.
He is beautiful. You do amazing work!
Thank you, Jenny! You do a amazing work, too.
