Yesterday I went to the dolls convention in the Netherlands, it was so much fun. I got to see tons of reborns made by other artists, so much inspiration!
There was even a supplier, with a whole lot of kits. They even had a couple of bins with discounted kits! I asked my boyfriend to help dig through them and yell if he found any Ping Lau kits, haha.
I ended up finding a Bliss at a discount! Could hardly believe it! I also bought a Liam Brown at regular price.
Now I’m all fired up and would love to see what everyone else has made out of the Bliss and Liam kits.

That is so neat… Glad you found some bargains… I have not done a Bliss but Liam I have done a few of those… Here are 2 of my versions… well they were custom orders so the top one was one I was given the artistic license to create, the other was to a customers specs…

Thanks Cherie… He was a bit of a job because of the size of his head… especially the girl who I rooted with human hair…ugghh … that was a bit tedious… 
Sounds like you had a blast!
IT was fun but I will say that doing custom orders is very hard because you visualize a sculpt to look a certain way and it rarely matches up with a customers vision because they have usually seen something they liked elsewhere and then want you to produce their vision… BUT I was blessed that either I captured something close to what they wanted or they decided they liked the outcome just as well as the one they envisioned… 90% of my customers were repeat buyers which, even though it takes some of the pleasure out of reborning to someone else’s specifications, it does make selling a LOT easier… They just contact you instead of you having to advertise for the most part and you get a lot of ‘word of mouth’ orders that are potential long time customers as well so your client base grows and keeps you in business… I have one collector, that tells me she has a doll museum, who has purchased over 200 dolls from me over the past 16 years so if I ever want to go see how my style changed and developed over the years I guess I can make a trip south to have a look…Not that I think I would be excited seeing the ones from my early days…haha!

I know! I was amazed when she first started. She bought one to two a month for a number of years, then dropped back to one a month… I just had her buy and have sent to me, the kits, mohair, eyes and lashes, etc for the ones she wanted and would keep them here and just pull out one of her kits depending on who I felt like doing… she made sure there were always 20 - 40 of her kits stocked in my studio for her all the time so had plenty of choice… pros and cons with customs though Pros - you GET to do a lot of kits you probably would not have done… Cons - you HAVE to do a lot of kits you would not have done. hahaha! 
God bless her though - I never had to worry whether I was going to sell at least one doll a month. The BEST part about being a custom artist, if you get repeat business is that you learn your customers likes and dislikes so there is no stress when making the dolls AND even better than that is you sure do end up with some beautiful lifelong friends!
