I started on my Fei Yen kit today and look what I found on her foot. Whatever it is wasn’t there when I got her. I wash all of my kits and put them in their storage bins right when I get them and I don;t think I could have missed this during the wash. I still really want to paint her, so I guess she’s starting life as a “boo boo baby” before ever being painted
I never saw such a thing. That is aweful!
You haven’t even baked her yet? That’s weird and I’d show it to bb and ask for a replacement kit. I just started getting an air bubble on my Harlows big toe, and I also had a few pop up on twin b’s fingers, but that happened after a few bakes. When I find these, I take a rooting needle and poke a hole in the middle of the bubble and just paint my next layer on like normal, making sure no paint gets in the little hole, Then I bake it and the bubble and hole disappears! But if you haven’t even baked this kit yet, I don’t know if these are air bubbles or if they are solid bumps of vinyl, so not sure if poking them would help.
She hasn’t been baked yet …well she has now because she just came out of the oven since the photo. I’m not sure if it’s a air bubble or not, it’s squishy when I poke it and doesn’t seem like a solid piece of vinyl. I think I’m just going to paint her and see what it looks like after getting color on it. There is the one big one and 3 smaller ones surrounding it, I don’t know what I’ll be able to pass it off as, but I’m going to try lol.
Maybe bb can send you replacement limbs
I thought about that too, but I’m too impatient to wait for a new limb at this point lol.
I would love to see the boo boo painted to amplify the pimple.
Oh ok well I’ll contact them and see what they say.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions on what I can do it? You mean Instead of trying to cover it up, make it stand out right?
Yes, I would like to see it more like a pimple. Poor little baby, but realistic. It happens, but not often on the feet.
Never seen a pimple on baby. Anyway, this is more the size of gangrene, and there are 4 of them; I would not be surprised if there will be more when baked. I would be definitely asking for a replacement limb.
LOL LOL LOL…my poor baby starting out with foot disease.
How wierd. Maybe bubbles if you heat paint? Let us know if you figure it out. If its not bubbles and is vinyl lumps could you sand them down maybe?
Maybe pop the bubbles and fill it in with sculpey mold maker? Or sand them down.
I hadn’t thought about Sanding or the mold maker clay. I’ll see what happens to it on the next bake. Hopefully it won’t get any worse. They got harder once the vinyl cooled down.
I would think if it is soft and squishy it’s probably an air bubble.
It’s till there after the second bake, but it went down a lot and the three little ones aren’t raised anymore they just look like 3 little light spots.
Why would you take the time and energy to do all these things when you could just get another limb? Seems it would be quicker and look better and be just as quick if you just get the limb, my opinion. Lots of work for no return.
@wispywillowrebo
Yeah I was thinking something like that too, but now I can hardly see it after a few bakes, but I’ve given up of her so it’s a moot point now. After the last bake her neck split in the seam where her head joins. I think I just got a faulty kit at no fault of BB quality control. I say that because there were no imperfections to the vinyl when she arrived, so just looking at her naked kit she appeared just fine. I wasn’t worried about contacting them just for the limb, but after the head issues I will be emailing them today.
@Shera1
I’ve got the time and energy to spare lol. The dolls aren’t my lively-hood so I never feel in a rush to get one done. And yes you’re right it would be quicker to just get a new limb, but look better?..well that’s subjective. In learning a new craft no one wants to be stuck in the “same ol,” if I can finagle an imperfection into to something realistic it’s a new skill learned for me and that my dear is “the return”
Aaah , okay a good challenge is always points scored, whatever makes you happy with yourself is what is important.It was just my opinion , sorry.
