Ashton Drake Silicone Type

So, I decided to put some platinum paint on Ava’s arm because I was holding her and forgot to wash my hands before picking up Mini Mac to finish painting him. His paint heat cured fine. I was astounded and worried that it wouldn’t stick but it is there this morning and not rubbing off. Ava’s arm heat cured. :flushed:

I’m quite shocked. I’m letting it set 24 hours to see if it peels. I’m also digging into what other types of rubber platinum will cure on. I can’t fathom HOW they could use platinum and sell that cheap. There HAS to be some other explanation for this.

The part of Ava’s arm I put it on goes inside the body because it’s the only place I didn’t touch with tin cure before. I also know you can paint platinum with tin cure so the fact that tin cured on her means almost nothing in determining her silicone type.

I have a new AD coming in May. I’m going to try some platinum on her as well.

I think the thing is not that it won’t cure, but that it won’t last and end up peeling. I am curious to see how it will go !

So, I can tell you that tin cure does inhibit platinum. As in, the hardware store stuff that is, for sure, tin cure. I tried it. Lol!! It doesn’t cure at all on that.

If this one peels, I’m going to strip this next one coming in May and see if the lack of adherence is due to some for sealer they might be putting on it.

The thing is, I’m having trouble finding any other insane people out there that have wasted time and money reborning these AD silicones. I really wish I could find some. There is a reborned AD on here but I don’t know the process that it was reborned with or the type of silicone used. It is a beautiful reborn though!

I’m just curious now and need to try to figure out what they are made of. It clearly isn’t the same as hardware store silicone. I don’t think it is platinum either. I’m going to figure it out one way or another.

Also, there are multiple types of tin cure so they very well could just be a different type than the cheap stuff I painted her with.

I only see videos of people painting their Ivita with platinum silicone. It cures, but peel of after some time and they gave up.
Maybe AD are in platinum and they cut the price with having the head fill with foam ? I don’t know.
Can’t you just ask AD directly ? They should be able to disclose this type of information ?

High quality silicone mean nothing ! They should disclose it or its because they fear something…

They smell different than the two platinum kits I have. It is hard to describe how and why. They don’t smell like vinegar just not the same as these Macpherson ones.

That’s been my thoughts. Like what toxic crap are you sticking in these? You would think if it WAS platinum, they’d shout that froma mountain top because it would be some serious edge in the market to sell platinum that cheap.

I know that Debbie Henshaw used Cirius paints to reborn my Ashton Drake Silicone that I own.
