Hi so basically I’m wondering I’ve been wanting to create and alternative baby for a while now and want to know what paints u guys use? I’m specifically looking for metalic paint as I want to create a moon baby but I’m not sure what paints I can use thanks . Also I want to glitter also but have no idea on how to stick it on to the reborn kit.i was thinking mixing it up with the sealer but then it may react so I’m not too sure
I am pretty sure most air dry paints have a metallic line.
Yeah but are all of them durable for long term use
I am pretty sure as long as you seal them. I have used glitter paint and that it still looks fine. I have only been painting for 5 years though.
Sent you a PM!
I just did a circus baby in GHSP. I used air dry matte varnish for the glitter. I just mixed a little glitter into the varnish and painted it where I wanted it. I have made alternatives with regular craft acrylic paint and GHSP. McPhersons has some fantasy GHSP colors that Bean from the Twisted Beanstalk helped create they are glittery, some have a lovely sheen, its worth taking a look at.
Che - Air air dry paints have a line of shimmer and glitter paints
Jo Sonjas has iridecent paint colors. I have noticed a particular other reborn paints all appear to be the same colors as the Jo Sonjas line so I suspect they are made from them.

I just use professional grade acrylics. They often come in metallic colors as well. Mine held up just fine so far.
I haven’t tried them yet on reborns, but Angelus Leather Paints are amazing. The most durable I’ve ever found. I’ve used them on leather, synthetic leather, wood, even ukuleles that I play and they don’t scratch off at all.
Like others have said, most quality acrylics have metallics. You could also try PearlEx powders by Jacquard if you’re looking for something more subtle and shimmery. A little goes a long way! They don’t have any kind of binder in them, so you use them by either mixing into a gel medium or applying gel then shaking it on top (like cinnamon toast!) Then varnish at the end. Glitter can be mixed in with gel medium too. ![]()
Edit to add- you can mix the PearlEx into acrylic paint, too ![]()
I use the GHS fantasy paints from McPhersons. Bean Shanine did these for sale through MCP’s. They nice colors and metalic and glitter. Just don’t use the glitter colors and try to use that brush again it sticks to every bristle no matter how you clean.
