So, I decided to find out what all the hype with drink and wet is. I made Andrew a drink and wet baby.
First if all, it took 3 damn times of trying to get a tube through him. I tried two different types of tubing. I had a medical grade silicone tubing and then a harder plastic tubing from the hardware store. The harder tubing ended up being the winner. Apparently you CAN shove them in there without holes getting in the tubing BUT it is much easier to tie a string to it and pull it the same as armatures.
Poor baby has a really messed up face and genitals from it. I can repair both it just sucks. The next baby won’t have that damage though. By the third time I pulled a tube through his body, I figured out how to protect his face and genitals. I still stand by doing all of this prior to painting.
So, now that he has a drink and wet tube, I had to test it. Water went through with a syringe. It also went right through with a bottle.
Now, does anyone on here own a drink and wet baby? I kinda really like it! This surprises me but it is really cool! I don’t think it is worth the trouble though. I don’t see me using that feature too often. I’m curious how often people use the drink and wet feature. Like, is it a cool thing at first and then just kind of not there or is it something that sticks as part of the role play?
Not saying I may not some day make a baby with it but I really just do not get what all the hype is over the drink and wet option. Just seems more play doll to me…
I can see where it would be nice to some people. For myself, I have fed and changed enough babies/diapers in my time. I don’t really need the realism of a baby to feed and change. No offense intended to those who make them and love them. I understand we all have different ideas of things and that is what makes this a wonderful world!
I got a toy doll that drinks and wets. I played around with it for a bit and now she sits in storage. For me it would be a fun gimmick, but I wouldn’t keep playing with it.
I am with you I was sooo happy when my last one didn’t need diapers anymore , I don’t see myself doing that again, and purposefully
I can see the appeal of it for those who like roleplay tho.
Some people may have personal reasons why they want it that way. It is neat and ads to realism. Just like rooted hair, mottling, veining, etc. Dolls don’t have to have any of that.
As a kid I would have been all for that idea lol. I was that one child that force fed my dolls dry spaghetti and gummy worms. It’s a good idea for those who like to roleplay but I am just nervous about the possibility of mold getting inside of the tubes.
Spaghetti and gummies…lol!!! I use to do the same sort of things with my dolls.
I’m worried about the mold too. I’m going to give mine heavy use and see how it goes. Really it is up to the owner to maintain their baby. I want to mess with mine some and see if I can find a cleaning system. I know full well people put actual formula and other real food stuffs in their babies.
I have some brushes that will go all the way through the tube to clean it. I also found out white food coloring is a thing. If I can make formula looking water, that would be much better than actual food things. I guess just to provide a kit to clean it and a better alternative to real milk/formula.
Really, cleaning it isn’t any different than cleaning a reusable drinking straw.
You should try this stuff! I think @pia recommended it to me. It’s amazing, the bottle lasts forever, I’ve made probably about 20-30 4oz bottles with it and still have 1/4 of the bottle left. You just add a few drops to water and it looks exactly like formula. They sell it on Amazon and a lot of stores but I bought mine here.
I’ve heard of people watering down sunscreen to use as formula, too.
I’m not much into roleplay, but I’d expect people who really want the drink and wet dolls are.
I too had enough diapers with real children so it’s not something I’d want in a doll.
The thought of running a brush through a doll’s feeding system just doesn’t appeal to me at all. That alone would be weird enough to put me off using the feature after doing it once. Lol
We have had people come in thinking they were being poisoned or their drinks had gone bad and it turned out to be mold from the metal straws. The cleaning brush did not get it completely clean. And we knew it because the stuff was sent to the lab an nd analyzed.
