I keep telling myself NO MORE KITS! Yet, I have gone back to this one so many times and looked at her. I LOVE her big full lips! Do I “need” another kit? NOPE. Do I “WANT” her? Yes! Should I or shouldn’t I? She is a bit more on the pricey side as kits go…

I preordered two because I love her.
She is adorable!!!
I am going back and forth on some preorders too and it’s maddening! Really want Mabel and Winslow but good grief I could be a dealer with all the kits I have stashed plus what I have already on order! I broke down the other day and pre ordered a few of Alex after fighting w/ myself for a week over her. 
I say just get her because the back and forth will drive you crazy. Plus she is super cute!!
This one doesn’t grab me but I didn’t know about Alex. I went and looked and she said she wants to come and live with me but she’s way out of my budget.

I love that look, however she looks like many others to me, so they all blend in my mind that I can’t tell one apart of the other.
I love Livia Costello head also, but somehow can’t justify $50 for a head 
. Maybe because I already have so many to paint.

Probably Alex Bock. I adore her. But I refuse to buy any more Sigrid Bock kits because she’s obsessed with AI and uses it to advertise her kits.

I think that’s okay as long as they’re accurate,
There are environmental and ethical implications with the usage of AI. I am only bringing these up because not everybody is informed as to how AI operates.
Ethically, think of using AI as “borrowing” the work of artists without permission or compensation. Additionally, work that used to go to actual artists and independent contractors is now completed for free by AI models that were trained on existing work.
Environmentally, AI is proving to be very costly and harmful. The data centers (or brains) behind AI generated content typically tend to house tens to hundreds of thousands of high powered computers with powerful graphics processing units that require large amounts of water to keep them cool enough to remain operational. Think 300,000 to 5 million gallons of water per day.
And it has to be fresh water, since salt water will leave deposits in the cooling tubes, slowly clogging them and crippling the efficiency. Residents of areas where AI data centers have been built are facing water shortages.
AI can do a lot of fun things, but knowing the true costs many people are choosing not support the use of it.
I hope this all makes sense. I am typing it in a room with somebody who is watching YouTube way too loud and I feel like I can hardly hear myself think.

Silvia made a FB post yesterday about how dealers are using AI to alter the prototype pics, changing the look of the kit, so I guess we gotta be on the look out for that. I saw Kristen Carwithen apologize for doing it saying she won’t use it anymore.

ai and where it is going kind of freaks me out a little.
But…..I believe the technology is something we need to keep up with and on top of.
China also freaks me out so I think we need to keep ahead of the game with them.
I don’t know who is behind all the anti ai as far as using “environmental damage” as an excuse, but data center water usage, while a lot, is not what is being portrayed.
In Columbus OH (2 hours from me) they said that the data center there used 1.2 billion gallons of water in a 12 month period. Sounds HUGE but that is only 3% of yearly water usage.
U.S. corn farming uses more water in a single day than all U.S. data centers consume directly in a full year.
Nationally, water usage by data centers is less than 1% of total water usage.
Many data centers are now using a closed loop system which reuses water and water losses are way less.

I am not sure how I feel about the use of AI to show a completed reborn baby or silicone. It is not reality and as an artist, I feel we all should see a real artistic creation. No one can make something look the way it looks on AI. I am not berating those who do it, but stating that for me it is disappointing and not the way to best represent our art. It just doesn’t feel right to me.

They wanted to put a data center (and a landing pad for flying cars?!) in our little town of 5000 people. We are prone to droughts. The whole thing was a bad idea for here. They were turned down.

To me, misrepresenting a kit or finished reborn with AI is false advertising and shouldn’t be allowed. It seems like there will be a lot more refunds requested for ‘not as described’.

One of my good friends lost her job to AI.
That said…its in everything. To an insane degree. I got a new phone after mine died and it came with all sorts of pre loaded AI stuff that can’t be removed.
Im not against AI. I just think its being shoved down our throats and that’s not right.
