Any good tutorials for ginger (Red head) babies?

Hi there everyone! I am thinking about painting a ginger/red head baby. I use air dry paints and was wondering if there’s a good tutorial for painting red haired babies? I’ve thought about using the primary method but I am not sure that I would be able to keep it light enough. I have Laura Antonucci’s Ginger baby ebook. However, it mostly uses genesis colors. Has anyone here painted a light baby complexion with air dry paints? Is it possible to adapt the genesis colors to air dry?

I don’t know if this is allowed but here is the supply list from the ebook:

Thanks,
Julie

My Darren is very fair. I normally use primary method but for him I started with multiple mottling rounds and then did a couple of raw sienna layers. I use Golden and Ultimate Fusion paints

Your Darren is gorgeous! What colors did you use for the rounds of mottling?

Thank you. I use so many different colors it’s really hard to remember , but different shades of purples, blues, red, pink, green… Pretty much the whole rainbow!

Love them! My favorite is the picture of the first one! I find I tend to like lots of mottling. With red heads, do I ease up on the mottling?

Yep. They have a more creamy complexion. Go easy. You can always add more.

I don’t do a lot of mottling every baby doesn’t have it. I keep my colors light. Ginger babies seem to have a rosy complexion to me. JMO :footprints: :baby:

I personally paint them pretty similar to the way I paint every other baby. I like lots of mottling and newborn pink babies. I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference. Do you like soft smooth peachy dolls or more mottled newborn-y ones. Real babies have varying skin tones so it’s hard to be “wrong”.
