Animal damage vinyl repair?

A girl that bought a doll from me 8 years ago has contacted me to ask if I know of any way to repair her doll that her pet rabbit got ahold of. I told her I would ask if there was anything that could be done. I’m not planning to fix it for her, just want to tell her what can be done and she can either do it or find someone to do it for her. To me, the doll does not look to be in great condition. I have no idea how old she is now or how old she was when it was purchased for her. Here is a picture of the damage.

It looks like it’s mostly damaged paint, which would be fixable but hard to match. It might have to be stripped and repainted. It also looks like there might be a tear by the mouth but it’s hard to tell if it’s a tear or just a scratch.

I would say fill it in with some air dry vinyl putty from MacPhersons. Let cure then sand it smooth. Then paint over it to try to blend it as well as possibly can be done with the disclaimer that it will likely never be as perfect as it was.

I will check out macphersons vinyl putty and let her know about it. Thank you Angie!

Hi Angie, I am unable to find any air dry vinyl putty on the website. Do you know the name of it?

Was the doll painted with air dry?

This is what I was thinking of. I would let cure 24 hours before sanding for a repair such as this.

If it does not work they also sell a heat set vinyl repair.

She was painted with GHSP

Poor baby. What kit is she? I was new in reborning 8 years ago and don’t recognize the kit. Cute face.

Vinyl putty looked like the only way to go to me too. That’s a lot of damage, glad you aren’t doing it.

Which kit is this? The face is adorable.

This is a Lee Middleton play doll sculpted by Reva Schick. Her name is Keyden. I have done 11 of them and have 1 more to do. This is what she looked like when I sold her.

How pretty, and really cute. Is this kit still available somewhere? I like her.

It is a Lee Middleton play doll. I am not sure if you can still get her or not. She has 1/4 limbs so you have to figure out limbs to pair her head with.

A lot of people are loving the 1/4 limbs right now! I think you’d be able to get a sale if you wanted to paint and use them! Maybe replace the body with an Emmy or Adrie Stoete body.
