Anatomical Correctness

I have somebody interested in commissioning me for Hans Yophi. I’m a little nervous because he’s full body vinyl and I have never painted an anatomically correct doll before.

I don’t have any qualms about doing so, but I’m not sure how to do so realistically. My diaper changing days are well behind me, and I only ever had a daughter.

I feel more awkward posting this than actually painting the doll, but I do want to make sure it’s actually representative of actual little boy bits.

I’m worried that searching for references would land me on a watch list of some sort. :face_with_peeking_eye:

So, does anybody have tips for me?

Haha, I had the same issue a few years ago. I ended up painting it just like the rest with a regular skin tone and creases. Then I added some mild blushing on the testicles.

Thank you! I’m glad to have advice.

It’s the same exact way you paint the rest of the baby. I do like to roses up bums, not sure why, I have also made testicles a little darker once in a while especially on babies with darker skin tones. Some little boys are born with a deeper purple tone on those bits, it isn’t necessary but adds realism.

Most sculpts have not had foreskin removed thankfully, that makes I easier.

I steer away from most anatomical sculpts if I can, I have had too many weird emails that put me off.

I think it’s beautiful, its natural, it creates better realism but there is always someone who ruins it with their damage.

No worries! Just paint as normal, carry on, don’t stress over it ~ I do normal shading, creasing, blushing, nothing to bring any extra attention, just normal skin per usual.

You know my photography skills are sadly lacking, but here are some examples:

Thank you. I’m not concerned about the creep factor in this case. The doll will be custom made for my sisters grandchild, who will be turning 12.
