Americana Decoart Media soft touch varnish

What exactly does this mean? Is this stuff really soft once it dries? Like squishy silicone? I’m struggling to picture how a varnish painted on something can be soft if what it’s placed on is hard plastic or vinyl. I’m wanting to use it for polymer clay nose and paw pads and wondering if it will quite literally soften them or just make them feel super smooth (which they already do anyway having been made in a mould).

Soft touch varnish is very smooth feeling. A lot of us add corn starch as a mattefier

Soft touch means it’s smooth when you touch it, not rough like texture. I don’t know how it would work on polymer clay. I think it would be fine but you might want to try it on a test piece.

Almost like velvet without the fuzz.

Ah OK, so it’s not actually “soft” just super smooth. In that case I can’t see it making much difference to the way polymer clay feels. Thank you, at least I know now before buying any!
