Is anyone else using Alva & Go?
I really like them, Im using a mix of satin and matte and the skin texture on the face…I am still painting mainly with my Golden but I have been using the heat set varnishes for awhile now, Ive also tried IRHSP, Xodus, and BC varnishes and Ive tried some of the Phoenix paints and I really like their thinning medium. I use that to mix with the Alva skin texture, I use Xodus oil to mix with the varnish and I do add some paint in my varnish so I have a full set of IRHSP and Alva paints as well. I do want to paint more with the heat set but for now I am happy with what Im doing. I wish the Alva & Go were available in the US and Canada…I think there is an Etsy site selling them but someone told me they bought from there and the varnish was sticky so Im wondering if they are using the wrong container?
Do you think the Alva and Go paints are different from the IRHSP or pretty much the same?
I think they are different…when I tried the IRHSP they seemed to look cloudy/hazy but then again it might be user error because Im a heat set newbie. I know the Alva are thicker and I did have a problem with one container drying out a bit…I added Xodus oil to it and now its fine. I dont know if its due to the tiny container it is in or if this is going to be a problem… Ill try painting my little heat set practice baby with them and Ill get back to you. I do like the varnish much better…I like the way it feels and there is no cracking.
I was wondering if the esty shop selling them was actually from alva and go
I have been told some heat set paints are made by adding a heat set agent to acrylic paints. If that is what they are that may explain them drying out a bit.
Oh ok…well I suppose that could be then. Its only been one of them but Ill keep an eye on the rest of them.
Yeah, Im not sure where they got it? Sounds sketchy though. I have never had any of the varnish be sticky.
Im not sure…I have only one persons comment and I know she used it without any thinner or oil…you have to add either so it could have been user error there too but she said it was sticky and mine isnt but then again thats her definition of it.
I personally love the varnish…it has a nice feel to it and its easy to use. The skin texture medium is awesome too. I use mainly Xodus oil because I try to stay away from thinner as much as possible.
This is where I get mine.
Reborns A&A actually teaches at the Kansas Doll Show… Legitimate seller…
Thank you Pia…I think her shop is the only one selling in the US…good to hear there is not a problem.
Wonderful thank you!
