I actually like your first baby, the eyes are so pretty and I really like the hair and eyebrows! Thank you for the link, it will definitely be helpful.
I guess I’m disappointed because we all secretly hope to be a natural prodigy when we first start out with a new hobby, and well, then reality hits you in the face I have so much to learn
Yeah. Well. That’s a pipe dream for most people.
Ok, I’ll post her (Anna, painted with HunnyBuns Waterborn air dry), so you can believe how horribly ugly it was. LOL! Shield your eyes.
My most recent babies… I think Darren is number 64 and just sold. So, stick to it and practice, practice. It does help you start to feel better about your work, even if you are your own worst critic like I am.
And I think we never stop learning. I am still learning and trying new things and trying to improve as much as I can.
Me, too, and I’ve been reborning since 2008.
I don’t think you should sell it if you didn’t use quality paints to paint it. They might fade over time and your customer will be unhappy even if it was a “cheap booboo baby” in your opinion. Not a good way to start building a profession reputation. I would strip and keep practicing on this kit and invest in professional paints which are going to behave much better when used and you’d have to relearn everything you practiced
I actually think your painting on the first baby is pretty good, and definitely better than my poor boiled boy I love, love, love your newest art works!! So beautiful and lifelike, I hope I can improve as much as you did
Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that… Do you have any professional air dry paint brands you suggest trying out?
I use Liquitex Professional Soft Or Heavy Body Acrylics . I really like them. I like that I can just go buy them at Michael’s and I like that you don’t need a lot of extra mediums and they last a looong time. I just add a little Liquitex Ultra Matte Gel to the paints with distilled water. You can buy a basic set of 6 primary colors-red, yellow, blue, green, black and white, and make most other colors from those. Golden is also a popular brand.
What she said! I tried air dry but couldn’t get the hang of it so I use genesis heat set. There are a lot of air dry options you can order online from macphersons or bountiful baby. I’m not sure what country you are in though. It would be nice to e able to hit up the craft store and stock up though and have paint readily available to mix to your hearts content
I hope I can order a set of Liquitex paints online soon enough!
I would use Heat set paints if only I owned a NUwave oven, so I’ll stick to air dry for now
You can find them on Craigslist fii I r cheap etc! I bought two for $15 at goodwill
I went to a local art store today and invested on high quality acrylics! I spent around 49 dollars but I hope the final result will be worth it.
I haven’t heard of the others but liquitex was what I started with!
