All pencil this time, no paint

Looks fantastic! I have tried it on a couple of babies now but have a long way to go. You make it look so great!

Thank you! I just finished another Clyde today and want to post some pics tomorrow ~ I am really liking the look; no more PAINT…YAY…:smile: Cuts my “painted hair” time in half. :wink:

Did you have to paint a primer over the head to make the prima pencil marks to show up? I tried marking a head prior to rooting and the pencil just wasn’t sticking.

I paint all my kits with a thin layer of satin varnish before I actually start adding my painted layers; I think it helps the paint and the pencils to stick. Here are a couple pics of Clyde’s hair:

So any advice on what colors of pencils to use that won’t turn orange after baking?

For dark hair, I like dark umber because I can vary the shade of brown by how hard I press the pencil.

I rarely do an entire head with just pencil, though. I prefer mapping the head with pencil and then painting over it.

I have ruined a few with the browns turning orange so now I only use umbers
