There are pages and pages of posts about it here. They are scams, and a lot of people here work really hard to out them and get rid of them.

Yeah I mean legitimate kits. Some are so low that I would think it barely covers material cost.

YesI don’t see how it covers their cost !!

They won’t be able to keep doing it. I used to sell for a lot less. Then my husband who is the number cruncher in the family showed me how much i was losing in $$$

People always start out cheap and then stop making them or raise their prices.

I’ve been noticing that too. I don’t price mine overly high, but there are so many selling for $150 - $300, that they’re harder to sell. I usually don’t have a problem selling but lately it’s been pretty slow.

I noticed sales have been slow, even custom orders because of the many selling low priced babies. Competition is high :joy: I won’t lower my prices so oh well, i will wait it out until it picks back up for me!:slightly_smiling_face:

I need to do that to. Especially when I root a baby which is most of the time.

Lol mine will lay quietly in their crib!! Because I spend soooo much time making one not to mention all the material cost!

I refuse to lower my prices and while I’ve had dolls sit for some time. They have all sold eventually. The most recent was a Jaycee I made 2 years ago. I had her listed at 450$ then I noticed that the scam sites kept stealing her photos.

I re photographed her. Pushed the price to 550$ and she sold.

Stick to your prices ladies.

I feel the same. I do not sell, but if I did, I would not change my prices. If my baby is worth $500 today, it is still worth that in the future.

I find if you change their clothes and take new photos, that usually does the trick. You’re right about the price, I sometimes lower the price and it doesn’t seem to do any good anyway. I sometimes raise it and they sell, go figure! :upside_down_face:

I was just going to say that too…it’s the idea of perceived value…serious collectors may question when dolls that they consider worth more are selling for less. That may explain why when you raised the price the doll sold.

Right! I have a few in a bassinet waiting for homes and I’m ok with it :joy:

Just give us time to enjoy them!

I’ve noticed an increase in people selling dolls from their own collection on reborns. Perhaps people are going straight for the “pre-loved” tab in hopes of finding bargain babies, in much the same way that many people enjoy thrift shopping or heading straight for the clearance section in stores.

I have a buyer that purchased from me and we became friends and she keeps showing me reborns that she is purchasing and she is getting them for really low prices. I told her I don’t know how they can sell so cheap.

I am not sure about ‘clearance section’ as I noticed that those pre-loved usually goes higher than newly reborn dolls now.
I like that Dave indicate them as ‘pre-loved’ now. I never noticed before (unless you would read a full description) how many dolls actually get re-sold.

I also noticed that they’re priced higher, but perhaps it’s the idea of buying used that makes people believe they’re getting a better bargain? I’m really not sure, it’s just something I noticed.
