I purchased some raw mohair and want to try washing and dying it myself. I don’t know if it makes a difference which brand of acid dye I should use. In doing research, I found Dharma, Jacquard and W. Cushing. Does anyone have a favorite? I see some brands have a larger color selection than others. Also, I have hard water, so I assume I should use distilled water to dye the mohair in instead of tap water?
I want to dye about 1 1/2 oz. at a time, about how much dye powder should I use? Has anyone tried combining colors to get a new color and if so, how did that turn out? Any suggestions would be helpful.
What color are you trying to get? Some use tea to dye for different shades of blonde…
