Trying to come up with a price reference chart …

I’ve been working on a few reference charts for when I sell reborns in the future (if I do decide to) …

This is a doll I made about 2 or so years ago, for a friends daughter:

If I went by my price reference chart, this baby would be about $350 before shipping with a small box packing.

Does that seem like a reasonable price for the quality of my work?

Thanks!

I think you should charge $450.00.

Yes, i agree with pia as well. 350 would be underpriced for sure.

Wow thank you guys so much, I’m often very critical about my own work but it makes me so happy to hear others like it! :face_holding_back_tears::yellow_heart:

We are our own worst critics. I know this too well

Nice painting, nice clean details. Johanna awake is a hard baby to paint. The price is very fair.

Here is something to think about (JMO).

There are formulas on how to price.

  1. Add up all your supplies ,I know its hard to price paint and fluff, sponges, cable ties… Just divide your big package by about how many babies you think you can make with a box of fluff and dived it by that number, it will get you close.

  2. Pay yourself an hourly wage, Log your hours for one baby to give you an idea of how many houses it takes you to paint a regular, no frills, bald baby. You can later figure out how long it takes you to paint hair root hair… and add that on.

  3. Add up clothes, shipping box, tissue, tape, labels, bubble wrap (that stuff is expensive). Remember to add fees you are paying to sell the doll, memberships and what PayPal takes.

That’s your price.

Some people add supplies and just triple the cost.

It’s pretty easy, the problem is you have to factor in your skill level, how desirable the sculpt is, how saturated the market is with that particular sculpt. What is the market doing in general, is it really slow, is it on fire?

If you are new, price low, deliver big, build WOM. If babies are selling faster than you can make them you start hiking up your price to keep up with the demand. You ramp it up slowly, until you can keep up with orders.

Right now things are moving slowly for a lot of people because of the time of year and the fact that we are still feeling the fall out from knock offs, and the influx of cheap fakes from China. We lost business to the clone site scammers and the distrust it created in people looking for these dolls and being taken advantage of put them off reborns.

It may correct, we will see.

Price fair, be good to clients and you should be ok.

As far as a chart…I had my 12 year old make a spread sheet. This year and part of last year I lowered my prices a little to reflect the decreased demand of artist made reborns, I had to figure out what was fair to me also, I can’t work for free, my time and energy are valuable. Lucky for me I have other creative work but for a hot minute I thought of stopping and just making fine art again. Instead I split my time so I could keep making babies. I also painted down my stash which felt really good.

Damn these babies are weird little addiction.

I think a long time ago someone posted an in depth pricing form. Was it @kareninflorida ?

I think you’re thinking of me! Lol! I used to go by North Akiyama Dolls Nursery. I did post a price chart maybe like 4 or 5 years ago, but I’m working on an updated one.

I actually printed it off and it is in a safe place, ya know- one of those places that I’ll never lose it … Or find it! :confounded:

Haha oh man! This is it?

The “COA” was me using the wrong word, it wasn’t for the COA that comes with kits, but rather a personal Nursery Certificate that’s laminated. Haha.
