Too many baby clothes! LOL

I was just cleaning out my “baby closet” And realized that I have waaay too many dang baby clothes, that I probably SHOULDN’T buy anymore. I have no idea what to do with it all! I guess I’m set on box opening clothes.

I think we’re probably all in the same boat

Yes - I know I am - I need a doctor, I think. lol I go to the thrift store every Saturday and come home with a bag full. I just love baby clothes, tho. I have 2 closets full, dresser drawers, 2 stands - it is crazy!! The real craziness is how often I go through and re-fold every thing.

My gosh, me too!
I just moved out of my parents house, but a bunch of stuff is still there. Including a whole lot of baby clothes. I’m gonna need an extra closet, just for doll clothes. :joy:

Has there ever been a clothing swap? I see old posts about doll swaps. But I think it would be fun to do a swap with just clothing and accessories. An entire layette set, with an outfit, blanket, pacifier, toy, etc would fit nicely in a medium size flat rate priority mail box. And it would give us a chance to get a different style.

I use to go every Monday. I haven’t been in 2 weeks. I have to find something to do outside of the house to do. Otherwise I’ll talk myself into going to the goodwill. My husband n I usually go to the casino buffet on mondays. By the time we are done eating n gambling, it’s time for me to go to work. But, I’m going Monday. I just started working on Kenzie n it say she wears size 6 months. I may have that size in girl clothing, but I don’t know what tote they are in. So an excuse for me to go to the goodwill.

I think that’s a great idea! I would totally sign up and I do love to coordinate layettes down to the matching accessories. Anyone want to host?

I would be willing to host if someone would tell me how the swaps have happened in the past. I don’t know anything about it. But I’m willing to learn.

Sign me up! I’ve never participated in a swap, only the traveling pants boxes, so I’m not much help there, but I’d love to participate.

Oh this sounds like something that would be so much fun. I would love to participate. I absolutely love baby clothes! Vintage is my favorite!

Does anyone know who has posted the Baby swaps in the past?

I’d love to participate. I remember someone saying that clothes get heavy but if we keep the choices down to few outfits it should be ok. Not a giant box of miscellaneous stuff. Maybe every outfit has to coordinate down to the shoes!

So @kimomax did it before. Maybe she can tell me how it works.

That sounds fun - sign me up -I think it will have to have limits: coordinating outfit with certain items -( shoes blanket hairbow or hat all to match ) have specified $ amount to not go under or over ? - specify how many matching outfits -or if you don’t meet required amount of money can u add individual clothing items- do they have to be new with tags -or can they be gently used -just some ideas to ponder when making rules

Clothing size restrictions might be something to consider as well. If you only make or collect realborn sized dolls, it would be a bit of a bummer to have ginormous toddler outfits riding around the country in the box. lol. Perhaps whoever hosts can set different clothing size range box rules for each round? I would love to see a preemie box go out, as it’s pretty hard to find preemie clothes near me, let alone a decent selection. I know I’m still too new to participate, but I would definitely love to see this happen. I might have some things to donate to whoever gets the box going although I don’t have anything vintage that I would want to part with at this point. This would also give me a reason to hit the thrifts looking for gently used baby clothes, which is one of my favorite pastimes!

I prefer larger babies at least 9 to 12 mo, but I can get a lot of preemie things at my Wal Mart, the only store in town besides Beals not much baby stuff in there though!

You could send each person a questionnaire where they could list their preferred size, gender, favorite brands/colors etc. I’ve participated in Secret Santa exchanges that were like this.

I’ll start a thread to discuss this. Hopefully someone with experience will weigh in with some tips and advice. And we can all discuss ideas.
