The most amazing AA babies I've seen!

:-1:t3: I don’t understand people like that. Like what’s the big deal helping someone out? They were new to this once too and had to learn and ask questions from others

Thank you to everyone who said nice things. I truly appreciate it. :)

@AmandasBabies LOL, thank you for the compliment! When people see my dolls in real life, they are wowed by the color pop I paint directly onto the dolls. Everyone is surprised the dolls look exactly like their photos. I hope you get to see one in person at a doll show. Until then, Bountiful Baby made a box opening video of my Thomas reborn. Bountiful Baby Realborn Thomas Asleep Box Opening - YouTube

@BecStorm Thank you! I heart Kate Charles also. She has all of my tutorials.

@Jessejuice I’ve actually never had help developing my painting techniques. I was the pioneer of AA reborns back in 2001 when the secret of “H2oh babies” was first outed on Doll-Fan. While the other 9 pioneers were figuring out how to make Caucasian babies, I was just a young teen figuring out how to turn Caucasian dolls into ethnic dolls all by myself. It took a lot of time, trials, errors, money, sweat and tears to figure this stuff out. I hope this helps you understand my position as a tutorial seller.

@partyplume Here is a screenshot of our conversation from 2014. I was not rude. I’m sorry you are hurt that I can’t give away information that others have paid for. :frowning:

I remember when Brooke Nicole first started out. Way back in the Dollfanatics and Dollchatter days. She was just a young girl then, totally into photography and taking gorgeous pictures of her Lee Middleton dolls. I remember helping her name one of them , Lavender Raine . There were not too many AA dolls back then. Mostly Caucasian sculpts that were available in AA skin tones . When LM finally had an AA sculpt it wasn’t what was expected . I think that was the turning point for this brilliant young lady. She set out to show the doll world just what a beautiful AA baby looks like…and she did just that …again and again . She **is ** the original pioneer of realistic and beautiful AA babies.
I hope she remembers me, I was a really big fan of her gorgeous photography and also have followed her progress over the years.

Thank you all so much! :)

Miss Marilyn from NY, I could never forget you! I can’t believe you thought I could! You were one of the most wonderful ladies from Dollfanatics. I hope you are doing well. Thank you so much for saying all of those nice things. Can you believe it’s been 15 years since the LM days? LM is no longer in business. We didn’t have kits back then. Reva, Eva and Lorna were pretty much the sculptors…it’s so crazy how much reborn art has grown. Ahh, memories, lol

Thank you @MichelleP20! I hope to work with you in the future.

H2oh babies were the very first reborn dolls created by a lady named Catherine. The babies were beautiful. They were hand-painted and filled with water balloons. They were the most realistic dolls available at that time. Catherine had a closed waiting list. Everyone was in awe of these new water babies.

A group of collectors (myself included) discovered that Catherine’s H2oh babies were created using Berenguer dolls from local toy stores. A huge scandal erupted on Doll-Fan (you know how things get over there, lol) because everyone assumed that it was illegal to purchase a manufactured doll, alter it and then sell it for profit. I remember several concerned collectors consulting legal advice.

Once it was determined that it was indeed okay to alter these dolls and resell them, everyone ran to purchase these Berenguer dolls to try their hand at making their very own H2oh baby. Tina Kewy was another pioneer along with Lisa Katzer who actually coined the term ‘reborn’ and came up with the idea for magnetic pacifiers.

Just like @Marilyn, I too, remember @brooke_nicole from way back in the DollChatter days and was a big fan of her photography skills. I also remember the H2Oh dolls and the rush to buy Berenguers! Those were the golden oldie days, the beginning of reborning.

The first reborning forum that I found was the one with Dawn (all4mykids) and her husband. I remember the very first time Dawn rooted hair on a reborn…the forum blew up overnight! LOL!!! Can you IMAGINE rooting HAIR on a DOLL!!! We’ve come sooooo far, ladies, it’s unreal! Dawn no longer reborns, but lots of you might know her ~ she processes mohair now, Delta Dawn.

DollChatter was my 2nd home back then, along with the Marie Doll Friends forum, where we talked dolls, doll collecting, showed off pics of our LM dolls, Marie Osmond dolls, etc. Mary Ann’s little Connor and all the wonderful pictures she shared with us will never be forgotten, and neither will she.

I don’t think any of us had any idea that reborns would evolve and still be going strong this many years later! It’s wonderful to watch someone progress the way you have, @brooke_nicole and I’m glad you’re here on the forum with us!

Well, we now have another way to make Water Babies by our very own Willow @WillowsWeeOnes. They’re not as detailed as the H2oh babies but they’re super-cute!

@brooke_nicole I just want to add that I did get to see the Realborn Thomas at ROSE last year. The coloring was amazing. I must have stood over that baby for what seemed like an hour in amazement. Remember @MichelleP20 ? I’m sure the baby will be on display again this year.

Hello @kareninflorida! It’s nice to see and catch up with a fellow Dollfanatics/ Dollchatter friend from back in the day. I’m no longer on Dollchatter. I was a member for many, many years but most of my old pals ( Judybug, Twinner, Carei, Laurel, and Freda) went off to FB land and the forum is now mostly Masterpiece and I’m into reborning now so I’m active on Doll-fan . I heard its very kind and friendly on this forum so I decided to join and much to my surprise I already found some old friends here and have made a bunch of new ones. I think m going to stick around!

It’s a small world! I didn’t know that about Lisa Katzer. We live close to each other , maybe 10 minutes . I had a really nice visit with her at my home and she is very talented. Her babies are gorgeous!
