Smoke smell help

I washed 2 June kilts in the dishwasher tonight. I had the heads on the bottom rack n limbs on the top rack. But I’ve wash a whole kit on the bottom rack with no problem. I always select the hot water wash.

I would be careful of that, though. Some things are even labeled, “dishwasher safe, top rack only”.

My dad was a professional repair person for decades.

The bottom rack does get hotter. It’s why pans are recommend to go on the bottom rack and plastics should be on top.

Really? I always thought the bottom would be too hot for them. Thanks for sharing that!

I just looked up how hot dishwashers get. Supposedly it’s like 100 degrees less than genesis users bake at, so I’d say you are safe on any rack.

Will also depend on how hot your hot water heater is set.

If it’s set to over 270 something, I wish you all the best.

I could only imagine the screams every time the shower was turned on. Ouchy! Water boils at 212 degrees.

Lol. My Dad always has his cranked way up “so the dishwasher will work properly”.

Don’t know the exact degrees, but lots of households don’t have them up so high for this exact safety reason. Don’t want your shower or bath to go from steamy to scalding.

Isn’t there a fillimant at the bottom of most dishwashers? Is that only on if you have heated drying selected or does it come on to increase the temperature of the water inside?

I remember as a kid it was my job to load up the dishwasher after supper. My mom always told me to put the meltable stuff like Tupperware and such on the top rack because it would melt if put on the bottom rack.

Me too, during the three years after the family dishwasher broke and my parents finally bought a new one. LOL! Today, though, my husband and I still hand wash our dishes. Happened to have moved into a house for a few years that came with a dishwasher and used that for the kits. We’ve moved and are renting and I miss using it for kits. We are working on building a house and it will have a dishwasher in it.
