I need a booster shot or something! My reborn year is off to such a slow start. First I completely ruined my Jewel doll… I put her away. She needs to be stripped and I just don’t care! (Ever just lose interest in one?) I’m rooting Tippi who is adorable but will be on my rooting table forever! I’ve started Kimberly but she is going very, very slowly. I want light mottling on her, sort of strawberry’s and cream, but my first round of mottle pretty much disappeared. I have no babies in my nursery. I feel sort of lonesome and just want to have time to sit in my craft room and work but other things keep intervening. I need cheer leaders and a good pep talk, LOL. Where is my Nikki?

No, there is nothing wrong with Kimberly’s vinyl. The problem was that I overpainted Jewel and now I am being too tentative with Kimberly so it won’t happen again. It’s like I just lost all my reborning skills or something, LOL. I had this happen once before and I emerged from the slump with a whole new set of skills. Maybe it’ll happen again! I think I get in a rut and what brings me out is trying and succeeding at something new.

Isn’t this called ‘reborner’s block’ or something? I have a Daisy kit by Amy Ferreira that has been sitting and looking at me for 5 years. Loss of interest doesn’t begin to cover this one. She’ll be my biggest challenge ever but I will not give up. I will not give up. I will not give up. lol. I think as soon as you work on one that goes smoothly your enthusiasm will return.

I haven’t even started any new ones yet and have one I need to start…kind of feeling like I am hibernating…Just doing makeovers on dolls not sold yet…I know once I start I am going to pace myself because there will be no more 11 hour reborning sessions…I was exhausted!!.. When the time is right, the babies shall speak to us and we should begin feeling the motivation again.!..Things were just to hectic in the months before Christmas…!!..

Oh Helen you got this it is only the 3rd day into the new year. So sorry I took NIkkita out of the nursery well not really LOL But she will be happy here because I have a full nursery can’t sale anything LOL so guess I will just collect. I won’t let it stop me because I enjoy making them so much.
I asked my husband if I should just give up because my habit is not supporting its self, he said no because I enjoy it to much. He has got to be the best

Hi there Helen. I wondered where you were. I hear you about life getting in the way. We have been up to our necks in it also. All I can tell you is that you have a big virtual hug coming your way from me. Better days are always ahead. This is a slow time of year. I can’t wait to see your Kimberly. I just finished rooting one and need to do a picture shoot, and am rooting another one. These are dolls that I finished painting in October last year, and am finally getting back to. I hear ya! I have just finished 2 of the 3 that I had to partially strip one way or the other. The last ones hair is 1/2 finished but I have put it aside to start on another new kit. I spent 10 hours today painting it and everything is going great this time around. Sooo get that rough jewel out, strip her back, wash her off and get stuck in again. You’ve got a competition to enter haven’t you? You can do it!

Whenever that happens to me, I break out some music and have a dance party. I sing as loud as I can and do the craziest dance moves I can think of. This gets my laughing going. If that doesn’t work, I look at other artists’ pictures to get myself inspired. If that doesn’t work, I watch a scary movie and scare myself into reborning to get my mind off of the scary stuff. Lol

Big cheers, hugs and ‘I love reborning’ vibes coming your way… I go through these too, several times a year…then I come out of it and can’t seem to reborn them quick enough…You had a wonderful year last year with all your beautiful dolls and sales…I love seeing the pictures of them when you post them…I noticed there have not been many lately but just chalked it up to holidays…Maybe you are having a bit of a ‘come down off the holiday highs’…I think lots of people go through that…Hope to see some of your beautiful little ones soon…Just remember Helen…you are an inspiration on this forum - take a little break if you need it but can’t wait to see you back in the saddle again and see some of those little Honojane Huggables coming through!!!

Sorry, I didn’t make that very clear, did I. I just finished rooting Eden/Michaels and am working on a Sarah/Sanchis(spelling?). I have a Kimberly, but haven’t started it yet. Can’t wait to see what you have done with her.
So far I’ve barely started. I will be working on her tomorrow. (I hope)
aw I hope things get better, I was in a slump in the summer so I know what you mean, life can stop your creative juices --I ended up not doing anything for a week just to not have that reflect in my work. I watched happy movies and baked -next thing I new I was flowing with nice painting and positive feelings lol
You guys are great cheerleaders. I am ready to settle down and finish something. I think it was just that I had finished so many babies at once and sold every one and it just feels strange and empty in my nursery. I’m glad they all went to their homes, don’t get me wrong. I just NEED to make some new ones. And I am going to make one or two to keep this year. All I have are my very first terrible ones and ones with boo-boos that make them un-sellable. (Is that a word?) Unsaleable?
I need a couple that are more representative of my work. Ones to cuddle and enjoy!

Helen, think you just need a little break!! Don’t stay away from your painting for too long cause we need to have our fix of your babies!! I’ll bet you’re going to have lots of new skills this year and your babies are going to be better than ever before, with lots n’ lot’s of sales!! BTW (off topic here) but where is our Niki??? I hope she’s not sick or something.
