I wanted to post this pic of a friends baby to show how many different colors of skin tones this baby has. Her face, hands, and feet are all different.
I’ve noticed this a bit in other real babies, too. It has made me think, why am I doing the same colors and tones on all the limbs as the head? For realism would it work to do this on reborns or would it look strange since they’re not real babies?
Wow! Thanks for the reference photo. And the many possibilities!
I wondered this too! I feel we get hung up on “perfection” and forget that the human face/body is filled with imperfections and differences.
I just had this same thought! I had to strip Maddies head and her limbs were nearly already done. I tried replicating my color and couldn’t get it quite back to before. My kids had two tone skin.
Sister, your preaching to the choir as I’m dealing that that mess right now
I have saw some newer artists complain about how theirs wouldn’t sell, yet all these babies that looked “rashy” sell faster. I’m assuming they meant the realistic imperfections that all human skin has.
I like the more realistic look, some may like the smooth dolly look, it’s just a preference I guess.
That’s not an area I’ve ventured off into either. On practice pieces I’ve dabbled with dry skin, and scratches, but I just haven’t wanted to mar up a perfectly beautiful baby with them yet Lol!
