Reborns for kids?

Wondering specifically what everyone does when the do reborns for kids, nursing home residents or other “simple” and less expensive dolls. I know they generally are not as detailed, but be more specific. Do you do less blushing, no veining, no mottling, painted or bald instead of rooted hair? What makes your lower end dolls less expensive than your high end dolls?

Mine have mottling and veins. But I just don’t obsess over the details. I quit painting when they start to look real. My more expensive babies get obsessed over for a month or more. Also, with the less expensive ones mine are either bald, lightly painted hair, or rooted with a thicker needle. Some have mohair. Some have synthetic hair. Also, clothes are basic…$10 Walmart outfit at most and an inexpensive blanket.

Thanks Katina. I’m getting ready to start some for a craft fair we have at church. I am going to do a couple of higher end ones but I want mostly simpler ones for the show.

I still do veining and blushing?mottling but I paint the hair. Not an elaborate painted hair but more of a barely there.

I still do everything (vein, blush, mottle ect), but not as many layers. Everything is there, just simple. Hair is painted or bald. Lashes would be really short. I make sure there is extra glue on the magnets, also make it a point of telling the parents they need to teach their kids and monitor this. I also varnish hands and feet extra.

As others said, still do details just don’t stress over them as much. I typically leave them bald or paint some hair (nothing crazy fancy though). I fill them with poly pellets instead of glass beads because it makes them a bit lighter and I have peace of mind knowing that if they break into the doll, it won’t make as big a mess. Good luck with the craft fair, I hope they are a big hit!!

Yes. Extra varnish! Several layers. And extra glue in the head if you do root.

The painting is the same. the weighting is way less ( usually a bit of plastic pellets instead of glass beads) + polly fiber .
I do NOT add magnets , pacifier and clips for seniors home .
