reborns .com is seeming like eBay to me:-( I keep getting emails asking to come down on my prices, do layaway etc. I made the mistake of offering to talk to a potential customer in the phone to awnser questions. It was a little girl, claiming to be an adult… And called me 10 times, each time wanting more pictures and asking questions. If I get it and don’t like it, can I send it back? Can I pay half and if I wAnt it I’ll pay the rest? Can you lower the price? I can’t pay until the 26th, can you hold him for me? After all of that… She emailed me the next day to inform me she wanted mine… But decided to go with a cheaper doll. A lot of interest but zero buyers… I think I’ll double list on eBay. I guess no matter where you sell… There are these buyers.
They walk among us. They’re everywhere.
Yes they are everywhere. I’ve been on reborn.com for a few months and haven’t sold at all. I am ready to go back to etsy and or ebay.
I have received 2 today… The last on wants me to hold the doll until she can pay… But doesn’t know when. Lolol Rainbow, what is your nursery name?
Nikki, you’re just attracting them today, I guess.
I don’t usually have things like that happen there, but people like that are everywhere. I hate to see you give up on reborns.com just because of something like this. Besides, you can list them in both places at once. So if you want to sell on ebay, you can still keep your reborns listings. School is starting up so not much is selling right now. It’ll pick up soon. I’m getting lots of people looking at my dolls, but nobody wants to part with their cash right now.
I won’t take additional pics unless it’s a detail pic of something that I forgot to put in the auction. These are usually time wasters. When I had Cuddles listed, I had one that wanted pics of him lying down. I did have pics of him lying down, but they were close ups. My hubby told me to tell her to take the one of him sitting and rotate it in Photobucket.
Nikki, My nursery name is Babies of the Rainbow Nursery.
I have had a repeat customer request that I hold a doll for her and she gave me a specific amount of time to hold. She came through and purchased it the same exact day she said. For anyone else I wouldn’t even consider holding one for them.
Thank you Rainbow, I agree. I wouldn’t hold with out a 50 percent non refundable deposit.
That’s hilarious!!! Go hubby!!!
I had one E-mail wanting to know if the baby eats and plays like a real child. My response: No. It’s a doll. Another one wanted more pictures. I sent them. Then she wanted different views of the body. I sent those. Then she decided that one eye was looking to the left and if I could just fix that, she would seriously CONSIDER buying her. I told her both eyes were looking to the left, that it was intentional, and I wasn’t willing to take her apartment to move her eyes. I didn’t hear from her again and somebody else bought that doll. I’ve sold 5 on reborns.com. I’m putting more on in the next few days. Don’t give up. Sometimes it just takes a while for the right mommy to come along and there’s currently a lot of competition on this site.
Nikki, maybe they’ve read about your ‘baby brain’ and think they can take advantage of it to get a better deal.
Janet, were your dolls selling quickly on eBay and Etsy?
They were not selling quickly and usually don’t at this time of year, but not as slow as reborns.com.
Be patient. One of mine was available for 99 days before it sold. The soonest was 3 weeks. The other 3 were somewhere in between.
