I am in Australia, and there are heaps of reborners in Aus who are amazing Artists. Not sure if she will find a reborn for $150, mine are all around the $300 mark. If you want to pass my details on to her or give me her details, I can put her in touch with Aussie artists.

Sorry, just seeing this…Most probably she will find one in that price range on Ebay or Facebook like you suggested…Maybe even a nice second hand one…There are various levels of painting of course and as we know most people would like ones in the $300+ quality level but in the under $200 price range…heehee…especially kids…I have sold to quite a few kids (mother in the background letting the young one do all the talking but overseeing it.) through my YOUNG COLLECTORS SERIES dolls I use to put up about 4 a year on Ebay. I came up with that name for the series back in 2010 to attract and encourage young ladies in collecting…but my prices were $279 - $349 shipped within Australia.

There are several ladies who list regularly on Ebay that do dolls in the under $200 price range because they just love to do them and they take a loss on most every doll just for the love at the art…Though they are not the greatest dolls out there, they are nice enough for a young girl and decent quality for the money…I am sure if she goes on Ebay and puts in Reborns, list from lowest to highest, she will find a baby in the price range she is looking for.

The thing is we pay much more for our supplies. With Australian dollar as it is you need to add about another 30% on the price in US$, and then shipping this distance is not cheap. And many products that you get in Wallmart or Amazon or some discount craft store are just not available here or cost a fortune. Just today I looked for Pledge; it does not seem to be available here, and to get it from US Pledge Floor Care Finish $33.59
plus $28.46 postage. Most kits I buy cost me around $150.

I do not really watch what is being sold on eBay here, but if somebody in the US would be able to get BB kit on special, paint the baby and send it over as painted kit + body only, that would not cost that much - maybe $30. She should be able to put it together with mum’s help.

Totally agree Ludmila…I was just doing a tally to see what it would cost us to do one if we used a cheaper BB kit off Ebay which would be at least $60+ for most of them then a $20 body, mohiair $15, stuffing glass beads $15, one outfit a blanket $25, paperwork, packaging and postage - $40…(and these are conservative figures…probably less than actual cost to us.) you would be doing it for free or paying her to make a doll for her…especially if it was an open eyed one that needs eyes and lashes as well…There are lots of ladies and kids that would love a free baby but there just not not many ladies who reborn who can afford to give them away to total strangers or to try and decide who would be most deserving of a free one if they could afford it…For most of the dolls I do, I rarely have less than $270 - $350 in cost just to make them.

Sorry, I didn’t know you had a young collector series or new collectors, I get asked by youngins all the time as I’m sure most others do to, and thought that was a way to give them a chance to get a reborn without paying so much. I’m not sure what part she is from her zip code is 4305. I know when I was little and wanted a certain baby I’d have to wait until Christmas or save birthday and chore money to buy it. i make a small profit on them not a lot but I’m good with that, these are kits that are on sale and I’m trying different technics on. It’s the look and reaction on their faces when they receive them, it just fills up my heart. My husband said just send it to her , I think he’d give me away if it’d make someone else happy. Thank you both @westernstarr and @ludmila I will pass it on to her.

Yep…that is Ipswich…about 4 hours drive from me…Elna of City of Reborn Angels is in Ipswich and there are heaps of reborn artist just up the road in Brissie, Sunshine Coast, Narang, etc as well…

You have a beautiful heart and nature Angel…

No worries about the Young Collectors Series…(I have mentioned it on here several times over the last year so easy for things to stick in peoples minds and not remember where they came from…lol I don’t mind at all)…I just mentioned it because if she has been a regular on Ebay she most probably will have seen my YOUNG COLLECTORS SERIES and if you have advertised using something similar she may have that in her mind…(Not meaning she thinks you are me or visa versa but just recognition of the name…) I went looking on Ebay tonight and there are quite a few dolls in her price range on Aussie Ebay if she really wants a reborn doll and really intends to pay $150 for it…Have you spoken to her parent at all???

I am very tenderhearted too toward kids, old people and animals…lol and anyone who is sick or has disabilities, etc but after you are in the industry for years and years (and in the public arena all your life) you have to go with your experience, common sense, gut feelings and sometimes your heart…I have given away more babies than I can count and sold about as many at cost or less so it is not so much about the money but about being careful and circumspect in your decisions…I will admit I have been conned by several little girls over the years as well…little rascals…lolololol

But…my advice to anyone who is dealing with a child is that it is best to deal with their parent as it will be the parent who will be paying and in this day and age with all that goes on with children I think it is a wiser thing to have the parent involved in any transaction or communication that would result in giving gifts to youngsters we don’t know…Well meaning kindness can be misconstrued if they don’t know who their kids are talking to on emails …If the parents are involved in the $150 deal…it is up to you what you want to do of course…

I haven’t heard back from her, I told her I would not or could not sale to her that her parents would have to get in touch with me. I don’t put these babies on eBay can’t afford ebays cut lol, I usually just put young reborn collector or therapy baby. I don’t know why I typed in the thread young collector series maybe subconsciously ur right in the mixed up mass I call a brain who knows what it’s going to do lol, sorry again I will be more cautious. Thanks again I will steer her and others to eBay.
