Please excuse me while I vent to people who I know will get it.
Yesterday I posted about a scam site stealing my photos. Again. And had a fb friend tell me she ordered from them because the doll was cute and cheap
I was angry but I educated her on it showed her what that doll would really cost.
This is someone I went to highschoo with. She has seen my dolls as I make them and knew about the scam sites.
So I posted this morning with photos of what these scam sites actually send out. And Well. I will post what was said. I blocked her name out of respect.
But this just makes me so angry. I ended up blocking her.
I don’t think she truly understands what she’s going to get for what she paid for. It is not going to be anything near the photo and I think she thinks maybe she will get lucky and that you were wrong and she was going to get a beautiful doll. That’s exactly the problem. Everyone thinks they aren’t going to get scammed and that artists like you are just bitter That they are selling them for affordable prices and that they are going to get something for way cheaper than what artists are selling them for
It makes me livid. I sold a doll last week that I made for myself and it broke my heart to let him go. But I had to given the situation. And then I have this knob expecting me to do a raffle. Lol. I just can not with this. Lol

People need to realize, that even tho reborns do help, they are still a WANT. Noone needs a reborn doll.
There are far too many ways to get a legitimate reborn on a budget to ever condone theft and that’s frankly what the knock offs are. Theft.
If someone wouldn’t be ok with someone walking into their driveway and stealing their car, then they shouldn’t be ok with someone stealing the artist sculpts.
I am sick of seeing the “I can’t afford a real one so I got what I could afford”. I can totally understand when it’s something you need food? Water? Shelter? Warm clothes during winter? TOTALLY get it.
But a freaking art doll is not now nor ever will be a necessity.
You did the right thing. My only regret is that you blocked her before we got to see her crap fake reborn baby when it arrives. I do not mean to be ugly but some of these people deserve to get the crap that is sent.
I have to admit I’m kinda bitter. I sold Jaime last week and I didn’t want to sell him. The buyer loves him. Although she changed his name and sent me photos. It stung to see her enjoying him. Lol.
If she wants a doll for her kid and can’t afford one, she can go to the toy store or thrift store or whatever. Plenty of cute dolls that are actually safe for kids to play with. You can even get rather realistic ones for a much lower price than an actual reborn doll.
I hope she gets her half chewed up dog toy soon so she understands what a scam means.
Well said. Not overreacting. Just the right arguments. I am sick of those people who want art dolls for their kid and don’t understand they are not mean for that. I will not give an handmade porcelain ball jointed doll to my 5 years old? So why a reborn ?
And stealing of photos is disgusting.
She will get what she paid for and more. Like a reality check !
I also get really really sick of seeing the excuse Not everyone can afford expensive babies like yours…omg then go overpay for a damn Walmart doll! I do not stand for even 1 excuse to why a knockoff is ok. Nothing makes me more pissed off then beggars, with sob stories. Oh my kid, mommies trying to do their best…if you were trying to do your best you wouldn’t be buying toxic knockoffs Also, when does doing your best mean getting your child something they want? People need to quit thinking their kids NEED reborns or that they do, if they really did need it for some reason, just like everyone else you would save money for it. You were exactly how I would have been. What a slap in the face to be told you should give back…did someone give us our supplies and who helps us make these beautiful babies that we can give them away for free?! People are such idiots, I’m sorry but clearly I am right, look at that lady you had to deal with.
Sony is right…most people don’t have a CLUE about the costs involved…real kits vs knockoffs…etc.
all they know is they are cute and they want one at an inexpensive price.
I have had a few people question me…I just tell them the facts and let the chips fall where they may. If they want to have the experience of getting ripped off…so be it…they have to live and learn…I can’t MAKE them be smart about their purchases.
It seems to me, also, that our culture for the past generation or so has raised a group of kids who DO feel entitled. We see it everday if we look. When my husband worked in the jail there were almost always entitled. Like they were visiting the Ritz or something. It was JAIL! Not a nice hotel. Just my 2 cents or less worth.
There are just those kind of people who don’t care about anyone else and will not listen. On my scammer awareness page on FB I hear from humble people who were scammed, who knew nothing about genuine reborns or how to get them, and they thought the ads were legit. I feel even they should have known that getting what is in the realistic photo doesn’t match the cheap price, but people do denial well in that way, so I am sympathetic toward them. What I am not sympathetic toward are people like your high school friend, who know exactly what they are doing and do it intentionally and without apology. If they want a cute semi-realitistic doll to start their children in the world of reborns, they can either purchase a Berenguer from Walmart or have one of the reborn artists who do cheaper, safe reborns for kids make their child one. There is NO excuse for willingly purchasing counterfeit goods or making reborns from them. It really ticks me off. Any artist who is willingly purchasing the knock-off and reborning them needs to OUTED continually until they learn to stop.
