Procrastinating Big Time

So - I have some really lovely blank kits - I think I have enough supplies to start a reborn (but still waiting for many basics in the mail)- I have watched many tutorials - I have a background in painting ceramics using dry brush, sponging and air brushing techniques - I think I may have an eye for colour. My oven came.

BUT - the test kit I have that I was going to use as practice I just don’t like - Its Alba asleep and I just don’t feel inspired or confident :frowning: does anyone else ever feel this way?

I like some better than others and I’ve only ordered one that I didn’t like. I painted and sold it but it wasn’t as much fun as painting ones I love. Alba can actually be cute. Just don’t accentuate the chin crease. If nothing else, she’ll be a good baby to practice colors and techniques on.

@jeanhai Thank you so much for your reply - I have to start somewhere, sometime, eventually

When I started on my very first one, all what I care is to find somewhere cheap for me to get a feel of it. When you start to feel confident and ready to sell you can buy the sculpts that you attracted to, IMO.

I felt more confident painting the kits I didn’t like cause I wasn’t afraid to ruin them

Take it like this- since you don’t care for the kit so much, it won’t matter if you mess up  this gives you more freedom. I am going to bet that you are going to be absolutely awesome at this- don’t just dip your toes in- dive in girl!!! :star::star:

@katieperry thank you for your kind words! Very true that it doesn’t matter how much I mess up with this one - about to take the plunge!

Me too.

You might be surprised that you feelings can change as you go. I had kits that I absolutely disliked in the beginning become my favorites. Good luck! Please share your progress as artists here can help you on your reborning journey.

If you are new at this get your feet with some uglies. You won’t feel pressured, you can play and experiment.

I am a long time artist. I sculpt and illustrate etc. I was surprised at the learning curve. I don’t do realism so it was extra challenging.

I think of sculpts as a blank canvas, don’t look at the prototypes just do you own thing and see what happens, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I have been reborning as a hobby for a year. I dove in, messed up a lot and still mess up. The mistakes I made and still make help me learn. A lot of good people here help me a lot. I am thankful for them.

You can do it. Trust me. The first few dolls are usually. Ummm. Interesting. Lol.

Mine ended up in the trash. Lol. But I went on to sell dolls to television. Remember. You can always strip the paint and start over. And over. And over. Unless you melt it of course. Lol
