Peek a Boo eyes - Tell me what you think!

Ya if it’s LE is should be LE. If you want to sell more than the set number then don’t set a number. I don’t even understand first edition and second edition business. It would make sense if there was a change for the second edition otherwise to me it’s just all the same, what’s the point?

Money.

Re-opening limited editions puts us sellers in a tough spot when we have advertised a doll as LE and then the buyer finds out it’s not. It makes us look like liars or scammers.

I just did a video showing one that’s Mac’s sent me

That was a very informative video Emily! Thank you for confirming that these kits never were LE kits. Your video is obviously much more professional than my quick one was and shows the baby much better. It is a very small baby when done and I do agree with you that the bigger kits are more suitable for adults. These smaller kits are best suited for Jr. collectors I think. I am sending my sample kit to Katy Vick here on the group and she will finish it up to be a donation baby for one of the several ones she does every year. If I were going to do a nursing home baby I would want a bigger kit for that.

Yes, my twin girls saw the pictures of the open close eyes and loved it! I hope i get the money to get them one before they go to a higher price after preorder. They are almost 6

So would they be called limited 1st edition???
Maybe number first edition???

A couple corrections. The COA does not say first edition on it. 4:25

Also they have not always been a $50 budget kit. 5:05 The original price was $114.98

Edited to remove my personal information from my invoice

Thank you Amanda!! I feel like a TOTALLY new kit would have been more appropriate!

Yeah, that probably would’ve been more appropriate. I think what is getting to me the most is that I am trying to be convinced of something that I know is not true. Stop trying to tell me no that never happened and that’s not how it was, just say yeah it was and it was changed, sorry that sucks.

I wonder when the COA’s were changed then? Anyways, I went back and found an old video I did live on FB of a box opening of my Ayla kit. It is dated September 7, 2023. I don’t get it! I even remark in the video that I did not know what 1st edition means and that maybe there will be a 2nd edition if the kit does well like what LLE does. I have just been trying to wrap my brain around it all. Here is the link if you can watch it

edited to fix the link

In the video I do show the COA and I just took a screen shot to show you all. Mine did say 1st edition. So I was not losing my memory either! Overall, a different kit would have been better received by the community

I noticed I mispoke, I said first that they have been $49.99 for the last 2 years and have no idea why I said always immediately after that, sometimes during filming you screw up, I’m not perfect. I have a pinned comment on the video saying I mispoke and just went in and added a time stamp so there’s no confusion.

The COA thing is so weird to me. I confirmed my info prior to the video with Macpherson’s and as another source, a friend who bought the kit and still has it. My kits which I bought in late 2022 were first edition and my COA was a regular numbered open edition COA, which I showed in my original details video when I finished Serena. I even went back through my facebook posts and my original sales listing from April 2023 and both specificically say the kit is a first edition. I always say if the baby I’m selling is an LE , open or if the kit was first edition.
This was my original Serena COA from 2022

Thank you for the video! Very informative, I’m excited to see the 20" therapy doll that comes out. I think it’ll be a good one for donations to the nursing home at that size as well.

I have lots of preemies here so it’ll be interesting to compare sizes when the therapy doll comes in. Thank you again for the information! I’m catching up slowly haha

I was curious about COAs. Mine doesn’t mention 1st or 2nd. COAs made me believe that it is the Limited Edition :frowning:
I bought mine Sep. 11, 2022 on a ‘special 50% Newsletter Exclusive One Day Sale’ for $49.99 + $16 body.

This whole questioning brings to the table another thought that sculptors might consider going forward. I looked through some of my existing kits I recently purchased from other artists/dealers. Most of them say LE and give a number like ###/####. However, I have one that only gives a number ###/#### and does not say LE. I think most of us have assumed that if there is an ending number on that COA that it means that is all that will ever be produced. If it says 1st edition more might be produced. If the COA does not say LE or 1st edition, that kinda leaves it open ended to where it is easy to run a 2nd edition and state that it was never meant to be a LE. In some cases, it could have been meant to be LE and in others only a numbered 1st edition. Regardless, I sure hope that going forward sculptors will be more specific. I think in the past there was not a need to because copying and re-opening closed editions were not a thing of concern. Now the COA is a huge deal and I think they need to be a lot more specific. Just my 2 cents as an observation of COAs in general and not an indication of whether I think this one was originally LE or not. I think the “evidence” on either end of that question is inconclusive honestly.

I agree,
I think maybe Tay F. intended them as LE of 1000, but selling her rights to MacP opened the whole box of worms and gave them the rights to do what they want with those kits. Just speculating. Because why would COAs change through the years?
