Painting my own silicone sculpt!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you can see more pics (especially of the moldmaking process) on Instagram! My username is emicohenart.

Hi everyone! I made a mold out of one of my clay heads and tried pouring her in silicone. I’ve only done one pour so far, and I apparently didn’t de-gas as long as I should have, so she has lots of little air bubbles… but I started painting her with silicone paints, and it’s a lot of fun.

Here are a few pictures of what the process has looked like between “layers.” Please bear in mind, this is my first try! I’ll be smoothing out her skin tone and doing creases tomorrow.

I would like to see how you paint it also… is it heat set paint? I would love t paint a silicone kit, but I am too chicken LOL

It’s not heat-set— the only thing that can cure against silicone is more silicone, so the paint comes in two parts which you then mix together at a certain ratio and add pigment to. It sounds complicated, but it’s really quite enjoyable!
